That's quite a low key appointment. I'd expected it might be someone with M&A experience but this would suggest Simon Hallett is going to handle that himself via the corporate finance outfit he's recruiting.

Good news - we have players called up for internationals and the rescheduling may mean it's on TV.

Or perhaps not... there's and England international on the Tuesday (a World Cup qualifier v Latvia).

I'm just glad it's an away fixture and I don't have to go out on a midweek night.

Not hearing much about Ryan Hardie since his £700,000 transfer to Wrexham.....it does seem that he is fit to play..... but unfortunately he is down the pecking order... and isn't often in the squad... let alone having a chance to get a few minutes off the bench.......I assume his wages compensate for the disappointment of being an also ran.

This site started (for me anyway) when the old BBC 606 message board closed. That was associated with the BBC football radio chat show that used to start at 6:06 on Saturdays after the news. Very funny it often was too.

The BBC still open up on-line chats but they are specific to a few major games.

I watched the England game last night. Yes, we were playing a team ranked I think somewhere around 135th in the world on a pitch with a stand of trees down one side instead of a grandstand. The ground was full with 10,000 fans - less than two thirds of what we get at Home Park in League 1. Of those 3,000 were English.

Nevertheless, we’ve seen England struggle against teams like this and occasionally fail to qualify for tournaments in such circumstances. Instead, England, without the likes of Foden and Palmer and even Bellingham, who’s considered world class especially by himself, brushed Latvia aside 5-0 with 72% possession and 48 touches in their box compared to 7 for Latvia and 334 passes in the final third to their 29. We’re through to the finals with two group games to go and without having conceded a single goal. Yes, it’s a weak group but when did England ever take that sort of advantage?

I expect you know this but I had a quick look at the fan comments section on the Beeb report. Thomas Tuchel has made it clear a big name alone isn’t going to get you into his squad and team harmony will not be sacrificed to accommodate big-heads. You know who I mean. Sitting on the bench while your team play in the Champions League is not going to get you picked for England in preference to someone who puts in 90 minutes for a mid-table EPL team every Saturday.

Bellingham apparently spoke to Tuchel and said he wanted to be in the squad. Tuchel left him out anyway.

Tuchel’s selection policy has clearly upset what I strongly suspect are Premier League fans with axes to grind in favour of players of their own clubs and against those of their rivals.

It just goes to show how bad an ever more powerful Premier League could be for the England team, not just by displacing good English players from the top flight in favour of foreign imports but eroding fan support if their club players don’t get picked for England as a God-given right.

PAFC have brought in Mike Stowell 60 yrs old as their new goalkeeper coach.

Played 453 games during his playing career at Wolves...Preston...Bristol C...Man C ...plus others as well.

Spent a long time as keeper coach at Leicester as well as being caretaker manager six times there.....he was coach there during their league winning season.

His wife Rachel (maiden name McArther) also played pro football for England and ended her career at Leicester.....also known as a marathon and half-marathon runner.

I thought Amaechi looked really useful before he was injured. It will be good to have him back.
