America has large swathes of the country who literally belive in me and mine amd nobody else's. This is at the root of their issues with health and guns and all sorts.

The UK post wwii appointed a socialist government and founded the NHS. Enough people wanted better for all bit all better for thrmselves as a result.

In large part the tories have been so scared to touch it the way they would like (privatise) that they have gone after it in a different way.

If you want some services you have to pay.

In the extreme of the USA the fire brigade will check you paid before putting your house fire out. Literally they will.

I don't know specifics like you do I just see the hypocrisy of some saying they care about humanity/everyone/common decency etc. except what they really mean is they only care if the other person holds the same views as they do. The rest aren't worth their time or consideration. You want more people who think like you do. I don't subscribe to that view at all.

I agree with you. That is hypocritical.

I just want more people to put everyone's good at the centre of decision making.

You can wildly disagree on some topics and those topics end up seeming to dominate debate.

For example the common good is put the fire out irrespective of whether they paid or not as the next houses or block or a wild fire can spread.

If that means paying a bit more tax cos someone else wont then focus on other means to find the tax from them rather than harm everyone.

Its like saying you hold a conservative view of family but agreeing with abortion law or same sex marriage. You can do that. Its not impossible and I think its probably common.

I might like the idea of family in whatever form but dont want to stick my views on someone else. You'll do well to find a politician that can balance that.

My view of this is dont be a dick. Its hard to go against my nature daily but I do try ;)

You have a different outlook on many things than I do. In fact most people on here who've expressed their political views, hold views, very often, diametrically opposed to mine. I don't hate you or anyone for having completely different opinions. I accept it for what it is. On the other hand, I've had some very personal attacks on here multiple times for my views. We all walk different paths.

You learn far more about a person by who they won't criticise than who they will.

I find the ability/desire to fight over it very odd. There is no need unless its sport to people
