Good Morning. It's Tuesday 14th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Perri fit to start against Burnley Leeds United face a welcome selection dilemma ahead of their weekend trip to Burnley, as goalkeeper Lucas Perri nears a return from a quad injury that has sidelined him for the past four games. The Brazilian shot-stopper had rejoined full team training prior to the Tottenham fixture before the international break but was ultimately deemed short of full match fitness. Now, with a solid week of preparation under his belt, Perri is expected to be available for consideration, offering manager Daniel Farke a timely boost. However, the form of Karl Darlow complicates the decision. The experienced Welsh keeper has risen to the occasion in Perri’s absence, delivering confident performances that have helped Leeds maintain momentum. Darlow also featured for Wales over the international break, keeping his sharpness intact while Perri has been limited to training sessions. That rhythm and game exposure could tip the balance in Darlow’s favor, as match fitness often proves critical in the goalkeeping position. For Farke, the choice may come down to balancing continuity and quality. Perri, when fully fit, offers composure and excellent distribution, traits that complement Leeds’ possession-based approach. Yet dropping Darlow after a string of assured outings could disrupt team chemistry. With a demanding run of fixtures ahead, managing the competition between the two keepers will be key—not just for Burnley, but for Leeds’ broader push for consistency and results. please log in to view this image Summer Strategy paying dividends Last season’s 13-point gulf between 17th and 18th place symbolised how Premier League survival has become one of the sport’s most fiercely contested privileges. In a financial climate that punishes failure as ruthlessly as it rewards success, Leeds United entered the summer determined to avoid the trap that has swallowed so many before them. Rather than succumbing to panic-driven spending or headline-chasing gambles, the 49ers opted for a measured plan. With £100 million at their disposal, Leeds strengthened where needed—bolstering defensive depth and midfield balance. Equally important, they retained the spine of a squad that had earned promotion, prioritising cohesion and familiarity. In a window that saw rivals like Sunderland and Burnley lose crucial players, Leeds have opted for a more calm approach. Seven matches into the campaign, Leeds sit above the one-point-per-game threshold that generally signals safety, a modest yet significant achievement given their early fixture list. Facing three Champions League-calibre opponents and still maintaining stability hints at a growing maturity within Daniel Farke’s squad. Performances have been structured and disciplined, earning the respect of fans who recognise, perhaps more than ever, the value of composure in the best league in the World. The contrast with last season’s newly promoted sides is striking. At this stage, Southampton had just a single point to show for their efforts, Ipswich stood on four, and Leicester struggled with six. Leeds’ start, steady if unspectacular, demonstrates that survival need not always be a frantic scramble against inevitability. Though their attacking edge remains a work in progress—highlighted by a sobering defeat at Arsenal—the collective organisation and resilience suggest a team learning to live, and perhaps even thrive, among the Premier League’s hardened survivors. please log in to view this image Harry Gray expected to sign professional contract shortly Leeds United’s teenage sensation Harry Gray is reportedly nearing a professional contract, amid growing interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. The 17-year-old forward has drawn attention not only from Premier League giants such as Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool, but also from Bundesliga heavyweights RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund. Spurs, in particular, are said to be eager to reunite Harry with his older brother, Archie, who made the move from Elland Road to north London in the summer of 2024. Leeds, however, remain optimistic that they can persuade their latest academy gem to commit his future to the club. Having learned valuable lessons from Archie’s departure, the Whites are determined to secure Harry’s signature and provide him with a clear pathway into senior football. Sources close to the Gray family indicate that Harry is content with his progress at Leeds, while his father, former professional Andy Gray, has praised the club’s careful handling of his son’s development. Journalist Graeme Bailey, stated that Leeds have a plan in place for the young striker, even being confident of keeping the teenager. Bailey said, “Leeds have big plans for Harry Gray. “They were never too worried he would be tempted away, but such is his talent, they knew he would attract interest; that is natural. “But he is set to stay, and that is great news for everyone at the club.” please log in to view this image
Morning all. No way I'd put back in Perri. Despite him being our new goalkeep that cost a **** load of money, I think he needs to earn his place over Darlow. We look more confident at the back when Darlow is in goal. If we dont beat Burnley this weekend, then I would be amazed.. We just need to be clinical and not give away silly errors that lead to the opposition scoring in the last min.. Good to be back btw. Not been in a good place to say the least. Hoping now I am feeling better, then the results will start improving and these silly errors have been ironed out.

I wish you all the best, on the road to a full recovery, seems as though your over the worst, so just keep on the path you are going now and you will be fine. What is it with us on this board ?, at this rate not one of us will be around to see us win that champions league place.
Hasn’t Perri got 2 clean sheets this season and Darlow has zero? Skeptical goals conceded against spurs too. I’d have Perri back in personally.
I am pretty sure when a goalie signs to be number 1 it guarantees him a starting spot. Darlow knows he is back up keeper and where is meslier surely he should be gone.
Well if it was life or death then you’re definitely over the worst . Seriously, glad you’re on the mend
Perri didn’t make any saves of any note in the clean sheets. Darlow made a couple of very good ones against Fulham. If any of the goals this season were ‘suspect’ I’d point to the arsenal drubbing ahead of 2 unlucky deflections against spurs. Don’t have a strong opinion on it myself - if they’re convinced Perri is the number 1 then fair enough, but on what I’ve seen to date, it doesn’t look a clear cut call.
