That's the main reason he features - his attitude. And he left the Club in January 2006 after being dropped following the team's run of 8 defeats in 10 games and a sending off against Arsenal at the Valley on Boxing day. I wasn't at that game so I don't know what he did. Not one of our worst 52 players technically for sure. But didn't show much respect at the time. I haven't heard the podcast. It's worth remembering that this thread isn't supposed to be a definitive judgment on the talents or shortcomings of various Charlton players down the decades. It's just a little fun. I'm sure I have done injustices to several other players while putting it together - as well as letting off some who deserved worse!
Murphy was great for a few months but got too big for his boots. Didn't like being bollocked by Sir Alan. Unforgiveably got himself sent off showing blatant dissent when he was on a yellow and we were 1-0 down to Arsenal. In short, a cvnt.
The dissent was over a free-kick awarded near the touch-line on the half way line. A 50/50 decision. He wanted to get sent off. Danny Mills did something similar.
Here's another thread which only took off after our returning members left back in March. If anybody has any fresh suggestions for A) Our greatest ever players B) Worst ever players C) One season wonders - players who made a big difference but only for one campaign D) Our greatest games ever I will happily begin adding to these 'Top Trump' sets again.
