This is the crux of it for me. He's made a big thing about not being wedded to one style and liking to change things up so he needs to show it now.
TBH, it really shouldn't be that difficult to find a style that suits Archer, Azaz, Fellows and Armstrong. All 4 are top players at this level.
That is so annoying! When we scored in what, the 8th minute (?) on Saturday, I honestly expected us to go on win comfortably. Would love to know what the instructions from the bench after we scored because we immediately sat back. I know teams are often vulnerable just after scoring but we played like we were 5-0 up for the rest of the game and got burned. Also like to know why (it seems) Archer is out of favour.
They used to say that about SRL.... The lad can clearly finish, whether his all round game stands up, who knows? but he was never given that chance it has to be said.
Can we just be pleased for Dom? He isn’t a replacement for Stewart and we have Archer, so he was never getting a good run here.
He had a stellar spell in the academy and is just starting to find his feet with the big boys, nobody can say he was given a fair crack of the whip here but I wish him well for his career, I hope he makes it to the top personally.
I didn’t say it was ability. I said it was because he is in the Archer mould. I imagine if he was 6’2” he would be in our squad right now.
It's just the 12 years of developing the kid and he gets 2 games for the first team and then we let him go for peanuts. If his goal record for the U21s wasn't so good I would've said fair enough but I think he was worth a shot at some point. There's very little upside to that deal and possibly we might've just missed out on a good one.
In my book a central striker can be an 8, 9 or 10 as long as they are striking goals! Obviously we need an old fashioned centre forward, but there aren't any, it's a dying trade.
