Wtf... A woman, aged 77, was arrested on suspicion of assault, racially aggravated public order and threats to kill.
Hard to imagine what could motivate anyone to do something like that; but a woman of that age? Unbelievable...
Not sure this should be a hot take but people don’t just become loving and pleasant when they reach a certain age. 77 now so barely 50 at the turn of the century. That’s plenty of time to have your brain turned to mush by Facebook groups.
Yeah you’re right there. See a lot of people do silly things these days and then you see the age and you’re shocked when they’re not kids or young adults.
Personally I'm not shocked at all seeing the age, loads of old people are racist and not just ageing white people. What caught my attention more was that a weapon was used ie spray. Don't often hear that happening, unless you are a middle aged white man, getting out of his car during the American protests and deciding he'd bring a crossbow along for a laugh. The weapon element is certainly unusual for me, and to also involve a young baby. I'll have a guess they've been driven to paranoia by the media, all media sources and politicians from all parties, so much so we've got old people now going out armed. I doubt that is just aimed at refugees either but more so knife crime in this country that still has not been dealt with effectively. Take it from my perspective, I'm old, I constantly see knife crime being highlighted by all sources, I never carry any type of weapon, not even a spray, but I'll have a guess it would only take one personal incident, to change my thinking omn carrying protection. Out of interest on here, how many people do carry weapons of any description?
No - got a baseball bat easy to hand in the bedside wardrobe (and a ball) just in case I fancy late night rounders ... Grew up in Leicester in the 70/80s and the City centre was pretty rough during the weekends - but it was frowned upon to 'need' any sort of weapon back then - probably all changed now tbf...
Yeah you didn't have weapons when I was young, everything was fisty cuffs and after school a set place to go about it. It was all very honourable stuff, a disagreement over something and a set time and place to sort it out. The worst outcome would be a few bruises, bloody nose and any pride well and truly dented or victorious to the baying mob watching lol. I don't even have a baseball bat to hand, suppose I could lob a guitar at them if in my home, see what tune it plays. I remember the first time a workmate was telling me he carried a knife, I was like ffs, it just wasn't the done thing to me, but he politely pointed out it's what they all have these days. So I can see how easily paranoia could set in, if the environment you live in has changed not for the better.
