I enjoy that more than the main dinner these days if I'm honest

If I'm not having one myself I always ask people to put some leftovers together for me.

My little Chinese nemesis is in the gym. Genuinely the most irritating looking person I’ve ever seen. Terrible form, sweats over everything, doesn’t put it away and ****s off with her stupid little headband. Patient zero ****.

    Anyway morning

Shoulder’s been playing up for months now since I landed on it playing football. Bit of physio loosened it up for a while but it’s been getting progressively worse in the gym. Flat benched yesterday and had bad pain lifting pretty light weight in the shoulder and arm so left it. Woke up pain-free today so testing it now and all seems good. Weird, must have moved something around in there.

Time to get in shape for the new year you guys x

Have been doing some fairly routine compounds last few weeks.

The results are obvious but, similar to Spurl, need to actually diet as well, probably. I can put some pounds on over a weekend then lose it during the week as easily. Rinse repeat, but can't get that stubborn last stone off.

I know half is an age thing, and should just go with it as I'm not prepared to starve myself to shed pounds. Equally, need to cut down on evenings like to tonight when I scoff pizza with the kids.

The golf weekend walk is excellent, even better if I can squeeze two rounds in.

Anyway, try to do this twice a week, as that's pretty much the best I can manage.

Flat bench press - warm up then four sets.
    Incline bench press, four sets.
Clean and jerk shoulder press with bar, four sets.
Bent over row - single dumb bell - four sets.
Romanian Deadlifts with dumbbells, - you get the gist.
    Goblet squats - etc. etc.

Weights of the above according to ability.

Finish with 20-30 mins treadmill, walking.

Nothing wrong with that as a workout for keeping yourself ticking over at all. No bullshit exercises there.

I’d maybe throw in some leg extensions instead of one of the chest presses and just alternate which to get the quads going and it doesn’t put any stress on other parts of the body. But if the above works for you just keep it going.

What's your diet? I'm guessing it's carb heavy?

    No, not really.

Work wise, overnight oats with chia seeds and a banana Monday to Thursday.

Have an omelette maker at work, so can have three/four egg omelettes but with some cheese and half can of beans on the side.

Have a supply of Huel lunch meals if Mrs Chief doesn't make me anything.

At work, have the slow cooker and an air fryer, and stay away once in the week. So, last week was air fryer steak, jacket and beans, and this week was beef shin chilli.

Mrs Chief does decent properly cooked evening meals and a very good Sunday dinner every week.

    The weaknesses are;

Friday mornings, up the sizzler pub for a breakfast!

Partial to a bacon butty on a Saturday/Sunday morning.

Get coerced into a weekend takeaway by the kids - Dominoes or curry or chippy Friday. But not every week by any means.

The post football/cricket/dancing/whatever McDonald's on the way home.

    Plus beer and wine.

    All ok I reckon.

I'm a millions miles from properly being overweight. But am hardly slim either.

Carb heavy then. Try to get down to less than 50g of carbs a day.
