isn’t it weird….Birmingham city centre I utterly hate, some nice bars around the canal area, but it’s the homeless situation, beggars on every corner. I never feel safe there

Same everywhere sadly, Leeds, Manchester (the worst imo) Hull. Never feel threatened though. They just ask for money then move on in my experience.

Google it and you will find out. We could do similar if rich owners came in and we were relegated.

I'm kinda glad there's one less interruption, but the merging of the two into a three week break is going to feel painful. I also like international football, but the disruption it causes the domestic calendar is ridiculous as it is now.

As for why it's clustered, I believe it's because (and I'm happily corrected) not all the teams around the world play their season from August to May. The Faroe Islands Betrideilden, for example, stars in March and ends in October, because Winter up there is buggeringly cold. Similarly, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland all start in either March or April and end in October/November. Ireland for some reason (guessing so that it doesn't clash with the NI football season) play from February to November. Argentina and Brazil run theirs from March to December.

So, this way, it means that most teams will be actively playing their seasons when international duty kicks in, or they'll have just finished, so as to avoid injury from long periods of not playing or players having to come back early, interrupt family holidays etc.

Birmingham made a hell of a lot on their documentary and they have investors from all over the world, so their income is huge and it means their losses are well covered. Time will tell if they can spend as much next Summer and whether the wage increases following promotion will have any impact.

The EFL changed the rules in Leagues One and Two so that L1 clubs can now only spend 60% of every £1m invested, while League Two clubs can only spend 50% per £1m. If the owner is rich enough and we were to be relegated then yeah, we can absolutely spend loads because 60% of a £100m investment is still £60m.

Another reason is that because of the different rules for the Championship the £39 million loss over 3 years only started this season after promotion. If they have bad run and receipts drop then they will start to have problems.

Birmingham is the only place in the world where if you want a drink, you ask for an item of clothing -' can I have a kipper tie ?'

Been to Walsall but never Birmingham
Anyway at the last Ashes in Melbourne I was in the bar near the MCG ie Cricketer Arms, got to talking to these two Birmingham fans, as soon as I said I was City they said that Wagstaff and Chilton were something else.
I returned the compliment re Trevor Francis , but I said I hated Trevor Hockey. They agreed he was dirty bastard.
That is what I love about football

Birminghams alright, always lively, some great bars, always a good laugh on a night out. Stay away from the wrong places and it’s spot on. Love that the arena is right in the city centre, so it’s easy to tie a gig in with pre drinks and a night out after. The city gets all the major touring artists at one of the arena’s. Hippodrome is a nice theatre and always has the biggest touring shows too.

Probably equal with Manchester and Hull and only really behind London.
