Tough for RS… really feel for the lad. Quality finisher and the move to Southampton made perfect “ financial “ sense. good player for us, however, can’t see him featuring in Premier League ever again

Putting myself in his shoes, I’d like to think I would be very proud to have made it to the Premier League & have that memory of scoring at Wembley. And having the financial security for my family.

But there would always be that feeling of “what if?”. If not for the injuries, how far could he have gone?

Agreed. I bear no ill will towards him for taking the opportunity to play at a higher level (or Clarke for that matter). This is the model and Sunderland 100% got the better end of the deal.
As for Roscoe, I sincerely hope he gets back and smashes it for Southampton (not against us like)

Agreed. He was magnificent for us when fully fit and playing week in, week out. Could’ve scored goals at any level

The horrible thing is, if he'd not played and been injured then, with his injury record in hindsight, it might have just delayed it and it could have happened any time after that.

Did someone say he'd started three games in a week?

Yep - Middlesbrough, Sheff United and Derby. He’d played quite a bit recently (by his standards)

I think that will be Ross done down there. His contract is up in '26 and if the "months" are more than three or four, by the time he gets ready again it'll be almost all over.

I remember how lucky we were that Stewart stayed fit when we got promoted from League 1. We were so reliant on him.

    Best wishes to the lad.

It’s weird as he wasn’t. Until his Achilles tendon injury, he’d played almost every game for us and missed next to nothing with injury. Since that, he’s you say, made of glass. And not even the glass you make wine glasses from, more the tiny thin stuff which breaks when you breathe on it!!

Absolutely gutted for him. He was great for us. IMO, fully fit is comfortably a premier league player.

Would’ve loved to see him turn out for us in the Premier League, he’s a quality all round footballer with goals in him.
