Hardly believable that Paul Nicholls doesn't have a runner in the Persian War Novices Hurdle. He has won 8 of the last 20 runnings including with Silviniaco Conti in 2010. On to the race itself and for the life of me I can't explain the short price on Queensbury Boy. Dan Skelton's Moneygarrow at 6/1 is the one for me.

In a race where I can see a few with good chances it is ridiculous that he is one sixth the price of the second fav

Newmarket 13.15 Brussels is an unlikely odds against. I would snap up the 11/10 available tonight

I'll go against you Ron. Revival Power carries a penalty against the colts but looks all speed. All her races have been at 5F and she won the Flying Childers last time. She had previously won over 5F at York and it takes a sharp horse to do that.

Brussels took his form up a notch in the Middle Park but I didn't think it was a great renewal and they have been messing his trip about, running him at 7 and 1/2 furlongs once. It seems to have taken them a while to tipple if he is a sprinter and I don't think his odds allow for the fact that he hasn't won at the trip yet. Yes his connections are powerful but I don't see him as value at all.

I'll take the less sexy Tim Easterby filly.

    1.15 Newmarket REVIVAL POWER 11/4

Some drift on the Skelton runner - he is the 20/1 outsider of 8 right now. Has a leg fallen off?

Revival Power set off at a suicidal lick and I knew she was beaten after a furlong. Unsurprisingly she weakened badly in the closing stages. Brussels maybe paid for trying to keep tabs on the Easterby filly and was done close home by Beckfords Folly, despite the Appleby gelding jinking across late on and allowing Brussels to stretch his neck out and almost get up.

Later on Rab Havlin and Audience set off as if they were in the Nunthorpe and the jockey needed a pair of oars in the closing stages as they were going backwards rapidly. Not for the first time Cosmic Year seemed to lack resolution and I didn't think he was unlucky previously as he was weakening, rather than running on after being short of room.
