A part of the reason Hamas don't want to lay down their weapons, is because there are several other factions in Gaza that want control, and would be more than happy to provide retribution for what Hamas have been doing to Palestinians, as well as try to take control themselves. They're not freedom fighters, they are self serving cowards.
