Wintle the only one who started on Saturday. Salech, Turnbull, Kellyman and Fish came off the bench.

Replaced after 65 by one of the players I hadn't heard of.

Tankiewicz only our youngest player for 65 minutes. Replaced by a 15 year old.

A poor performance all round. I'm struggling to think of anything positive other than 6 youngsters got a chance to play "first" team football.

Wintle, Turnbull and Chambers should donate this week's wages to charity they were so poor.

Of the youngsters, Spiers and Tanketc looked overawed. Parfitt did okay at left back but rarely ventured forward. Perrett worked hard but didn't create much - nobody did. Kingdom who came on at right back looked strong and linked up well down the right.

The one positive was the young lad who came on at left wing. Still only 15 I think. He was positive, held the ball up well, had good movement, took on defenders twice his size and fired off a couple of shots. Went home to finish his homework at the final whistle.

Putting it all in perspective, in a week we have lost 1.0 at home to the bottom clubs in Leagues 1 and 2.

Just seen the WoL player ratings for City

Feck me, Tom Coleman was clearly not at the same game as me. Worst of all he gave Chambers a 6 ffs!!!

Totally agree about the senior players.

Chambers was so slow and indecisive, Wintle was everywhere but nowhere, and Turnbull looked totally disinterested.

The youngsters had a go but were blown away by experienced, if not sophisticated Newport adults.

A game to forget for sure.

BBM stuck between a rock and a hard place given the scheduling.
When so many changes are made its difficult for everyone, especially the youngsters, some of whom will have had little time training with the 1st team.
You just hope this exposure for the young guns doesn't dent their confidence.
Someone like Spiers could have done with a game in a settled side, not a mix and match.
Behind us now. Just hope it hasn't set any of the youngsters back.

Probably the most downbeat I've heard BBM.
More about the situation than the result.
It sounds as if we'll be in the same situation for the final game.
We won't get maximum benefit from exposing the youngsters on the fringe of the 1st team ( BBM name checked Mafico and
Nyakuhwa) to games and need to dig deeper into reserves.

Disappointing but unsurprising result given circumstances and the players available to us.

Newport were always going to be pushing for a result in this one given their own travails at the moment. I can't claim to know how far off their regular 1st team their side was but they'd have been doing all they could to try and get some positivity and confidence back into their team.

The result will have little bearing on our season and even in the competition itself we still have chance to progress, though if scheduling does impact us again in a similar manner for our game against the Arsenal kids then we will most likely be jettisoned after that game.
As has been said, it would have been a useful tournament for blooding a few youngsters in, but having wholesale changes like we did, it doesn't help anyone.

Onwards and upwards anyhow - another enforced break coming up and then back to it in the 'bread and butter' league...
