BTW its nowt to do with trent. Trent couldn't turn worth a damn. He'd wander in and not be availab3l for a pass either. Teams are able to press us with 3. Why? Cos thry have figured slot out. Narrow full backs can be cut off by one plauer two can also harry the cb. Just just the lane. Its really that simple. We are retreating back to our own box to create space for pmayers who are not actually.moving for a pass and all we are doing is giving it up closer to our own goal. Theres 3 cms there thst you want to move. But when a cb passes straight forward 10 yards to a guy coming straight back its easy follow tjst man up and be in his back as the ball arrives. Theres very little lateral.movement to make a new passing lane open going on. We leave it to a single cm dropping between two very wide cbs and then the two full backs are nowhere. We cant seek to see sides are packing thr middle knowing we will cought it up. We seem to not be willing to go wide quickly to a wide full back and go up the line.
Problem is, you’re so often black and white with your statements that makes the rest no point reading. Saying it has nothing to do with TAA is just so blinkered. Whether he’s a major reason (which I think it is) or a minor reason amongst many others - just wholly dismissing the loss of the vice captain, local lad who also was the best footballing rb in The world and built up a relationship over 5 years with the best right winger in the world is just nonsense.
If you love him so much go marry him lol. Seriously the issues are nowt to do with who is stood at rb. If you are getting walked through from front to back right down the middle then the rb isn't going to influence that.
We are too narrow and we don’t get behind enough. In defence, we are too narrow and allow everyone and their dog behind. Width is an issue. I actually think that we are really missing Diaz on the left. we have change the right side of defence, the left side of defence, the right and left side of the pitch and everything up front. Even our midfield three are recovering from injuries or being played out of position. We look completely disjointed at times. we also lost a key coach in the summer didn’t we? I’m not sure if that’s would be a big impact but our fitness looks off and perhaps the training routines have changed (I don’t know, just looking for possible root causes) Salah looks way off tbh but that might be that the new team is not compensating for his weaknesses just yet. Either way, it doesn’t look great for him. Just so many changes in one go was never going to work from day one. I do hope that Slot is brave enough to drop big players and go with what we know will work, easing players in, rather than be stubborn….the latter rarely works.
We haven't had a settled RB yet. Once that's established, we'll see how much we miss our previous RB because atm we definitely are missing him. I also think it's too soon to be saying drop Salah. If you've got a lot of new players to settle in, you don't do it by taking out the ones who know what they're doing. Granted Salah has been poor but he's always been the one most likely to score. I'd say him and Isak are getting less service than a 1 star hotel atm.
losing a rb who can open the play and force opponents backwards and gives you control over a football game is obviously going to have a huge impact on you defensively. If you can’t see that then pointless argument to have.
Losing both Trent AND Diaz also, as the long switch to Diaz released pressure and Diaz was able to hold the ball, get up field quickly and push the oppo back.
