From what they said on to Hull and Back he wasn't originally named on the bench. Then Joseph was taken ill so the gaffer called up Palmer. They said Palmer told the gaffer his head wasn't in the right place to join the squad. We had one less player on the bench than we could have had on Saturday.
They said on the 1904 club as well that players are expected at the ground for home games regardless of whether they're in the squad. Can't see them anymore but I'm sure Palmer posted some pictures of himself in his club tracksuit with his kids after the game, so looks like he was at the ground.
That is such a pathetic, lame excuse for any professional footballer to make. You are paid a huge amount of money to play football, so get your head in the right place and get ready to play if you are called upon. Why wasn't his head in the right place? Was he still crying over being subbed off on the Tuesday? You didn't play well, you deserved to be subbed off - get over it and get ready for the next game. Bet his head is in the right place to play for his country!
We actually have no idea why Palmer said he wasn’t right to come in. I’ve been off work with stress in the past. A salary doesn’t equal perfect health.
He was at at the stadium He just didnt want to be on the bench That sounds like he was in a sulk about not even being in the initial squad And hes gone away with jamaica now
I'm still not totally clear that Palmer did actually say himself that he wasn't mentally ready. Listening to Sergei's post-match interview when it first came up he seemed to be saying that it was his (SJ's) decision to leave him out because he believed Palmer wasn't mentally ready. Think we should be cautious about running away with it and piling on Palmer too much over this when it isn't very clear from what I can tell. I do think he's a totally forgettable player though.
Dont post on the thread if speculations not allowed Lets only post when the full facts are out Nice one
From the Yorkshire post: Jakirovic, whose side claimed their third home win in five games this season and secured Hull's second clean sheet at the MKM Stadium in 26 games, said: "He (Palmer) was not ready for this game, so it was my decision and he will not be on the bench. "Not ready. Not easy. What I said, not ready. Not mentally ready. "We have a lot of players, so I mean, at least I can give you a chance. You need to show your quality on the pitch. No one is above the club for me. I have no problems with that." On whether Palmer has a route back to the first-team squad - he will now link up with his Jamaican team-mates for World Cup qualifiers - the Croatian added: "It's not about me." "He's a professional player, we pay him, so he needs to give everything for this club and this team." I believe most of what's being inferred and extrapolated on the various podcasts comes from those few words.
So what if he did say he didn’t want to it’s a job just cos posters think they’d play for city for nowt He wouldn’t He’s had a fall out with his employer like many of us have had And he’s had a go back the only way he can Ye he might go in January and This might be part of that
How times change. Back in the day I went to my docs for a sick note to cover me for having a day off work. I worked in a factory and needed a sick note to be off without permission. The wife was in hospital, so was one of my young daughters and I had a three year old at home to look after, Doc said as there was nothing physically wrong with me he couldn't sign me off. I said 'what about stress? His reply? 'No such thing' adding, 'what would you have done in the war'?
