Sorry mate, that’s laughable. That was him on the campaign trail promising no more council tax rises. It was an attempt to pull in votes and then he’s went back on it once he got into power.
This was from 2023 mate and Labour wasn’t in power. As I said, I know it’s doing the rounds but it’s been debunked.
We aren’t going to agree here mate. He’s said the words. They literally come out of his mouth that he’d freeze council tax and as soon as he got into power he went back on it.
No it was from 2023 and was in direct response to helping out when the energy prices had sky rocketed. He said he would impose a windfall tax on the energy companies that year to fund it. In his manifesto he said working people wouldn’t pay more in taxes and up to this point it’s true. What happens at the budget is anyone’s guess and if he does raise taxes as expected then he deserves the abuse he will undoubtedly get. At that time the election hadn’t been called, so he wasn’t on the election trail. It’s what politicians do, have an unrealistic answer for whatever the subject of the day is?
So, are you saying you can make all the promises under the sun when in opposition, but not be expected to keep them once in power? Seems a bit off to me.
How come Farage is a big far liar for promising to freeze council tax but Sir Starmer is allowed to lie because he's in power now & changed his mind ? .
I agree they lie but they should also be held to account for the claims they make. I feel like I’m going mad here. There’s a video on this page with him saying he’d freeze council tax and I’m being told he didn’t say it.
