Back again - by no popular demand (again). A look a head to the next 5 games for Eddies Black and White Army and a little bit of a look back at the first 10 games while we wait the next 2 weeks for the internationals to be over. First of all a look back on the first 10 games of the season - a marker I usually think is appropriate to see how the season is beginning to unfold. Villa (A) 0-0 D Liverpool (H) 2-3 L Leeds (A) 0-0 D Wolves (H) 1-0 W Barcelona (H) 1-2 L Bournemouth (A) 0-0 D Bradford (H) 4-1 W Arsenal (H) 1-2 L USG (A) 4-0 W Nott F 2-0 W 10 games, 4 Wins, 3 Draws, 3 Losses, 15 Scored, 8 Conceded, 6 Clean Sheets - Frankly, in my opinion, it is a very good start to the season for us while bedding in 6 new first team players and dealing with the loss of both of our strikers from last season. Only losses so far against Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona... Big shout outs to Thiaw and Woltemade - the German duo have taken to life on Tyneside like ducks to water and already look like part of the furniture here - long may it continue and exciting to see them progress under Eddie Howe. Since getting a recognized striker on the pitch we've played 7, won 4, lost 2 and drawn 1 The next five games will see the season really shape up while we look to continue our rise up the premier league table, retain our league cup crown and to progress in the Champions League. Brighton (Away) 18/10 - sitting just below us in 12th place at present - it's a bit of a six pointer to try and clear a gap to the bottom half of the table - but we haven't beaten the Seagulls away since the championship season (February 2017!) - surely that run has to end some time soon? Right? Benfica (Home) 21/10 - Third game of the group stage for the Champions League see's Mourinho's Benfica travel to SJP. Benfica have lost their first two CL League games but are undefeated in their national league so far after 8 games. Fulham (Home) 25/10 - Back to the League and it's Fulham traveling up 4 days later to SJP. Despite Fulham doing the double over us last season there are reasons to be hopeful in that we hadn't lost in 9 games prior to this against the Cottagers (W7, D2 - only conceding 2 in that run and scoring 20). Spurs (Home) 29/10 - The second game in our League Cup defense see's Spurs become the third team to travel to the cathedral on the hill in 8 days at the end of the month. Expect goals in this one as from what I can find the last time we played out a 0-0 with the cock(rel) lovers was in 1971 - anyone able to verify, some of our more "mature" posters may even remember/have been at the game before they started pickup their pensions? PEW PEW! West Ham (Away) 2/11 - The first game in November and the last on this list is a trip to West Ham and the last time we lost down there was in March 2019. It'll be interesting to see if Nuno get's a tune out of them in their 2 games prior to this one (meaning lots of time on the training pitch) or if they are still winless since August by the time we rock up. As always with this bollocks I'll ask you stick your neck on the line and guess the points haul we'll take from the games - excluding the cup game (0-12 points) - and to predict if we will make it through the cup. (P.S. you can vote twice on the poll for the cup)
I sent for 10-12. I just feel quite positive right now. We have momentum and Wissa will come back soon too.
Not sure how we are getting 12 points from those five with only three Prem League matches, one CL and one league cup match
Win all the Prem matches and the CL match, it's 12 points combining the points gained in both competitions.
