I want cake now Fruit cake is my favourite, not really a fan of plain sponge, don't know what your one is, but enough icing on top to compensate. Bought some fruit bread the other day, I had stopped eating it because it makes me put on weight, but **** it.
Can’t buy a fruit loaf, will happily toast the lot and do it in one sitting School cake is just a vanilla sponge with icing.
Won't be today I'm afraid - but saw it on James Martin recently - my birthday in the week so will badger the missus (she looks forward to it every year! ) and the girls to make it rather than buying me a present..
I'm the only one in my family that likes Bread Sauce with Roast Chicken, Turkey, Goose ... fair enough (the old girl always made it) ... but have now started making my own and its way better than the packet stuff ... and so ****ing easy... Grate a slice of bread into a pan, add freshly ground black pepper, white pepper and a pinch of nutmeg, ground cloves and salt - generous knob of butter then gently heat ... add milk (and some cream if you have it) bring to boil then simmer to the consistency you want ... absolutely banging - great way to use up bread going stale...
