This Manchester story gets more and more astonishing. If someone wrote a film or TV script where Jews at a synagogue were attacked on Yom Kippur by a Muslim called Jihad who was out on after bail after being arrested on suspicion of rape, people would say the writing was dreadful, the plot was too contrived and probably suggest the author was a racist.
The whole incident has become quite perverse. The police appear to have killed one individual and injured another. On top of this , David Lammy was heckled and instructed to disappear to Palestine while there is currently debate as to whether the planned pro Palestine Action protests should be cancelled. The overwriting issue here seems to have been lost insofar that why are incidents in the Middle East having serious repercussions in the UK ? The actions of Israel reiterate themselves around the globe. There is a distinct lack of recognition that a decision in Israel is no longer national but has international implications across the globe. I think that an emboldened Israel now means trouble for any country with an Islamic diaspora in addition to the countries on Israel's borders. Most people are disgusted by yesterday's events bit I think there is a distinct issue now with foreign policies of other countries causing issues abroad whether it be Russia, Israel or America.
I mean the foreign policy of your new favourite religion could probably do with looking at too. Sahih Muslim 2922 (Book of Tribulations)“The Last Hour will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews… a stone or a tree will say: O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him—except the gharqad tree.” Sahih al-Bukhari 2926 (Book of Jihad)“The Hour will not be established until you fight the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew is hiding will say: O Muslim! There is a Jew behind me, so kill him.”
People are full of fear and anger Ian. That seems to be a global phenomenon. And everyone thinks someone else is to blame for everything.
And all the while seedy little politicians rub their hands in glee and utilise this to their advantage. The politics of finger pointing. Oh how clever we are.........
Now imagine there was no internet. Would our perception be the same? Everyone in the real world seems pretty much the same as ever.
You mean the world's always been like that, but social media makes it more in-your-face? Well, maybe...
Potential progress in the peace process in Gaza and Hamas seemingly finally willing to return the hostages after two long years. Understand the rejection of Tony Blair or a similar “neutral” governance of a new Palestinian state by Hamas at the moment, but this region and border needs neutral enforcement or it will be back to the status quo.
Farage is a symptom, not the disease itself. We live in an angry, entitled world, Western civilisation appears to be in irreversible decline, democracy is undermined by wealthy private interests buying access to power, the gulf between rich and poor is wider than it's been since before the French Revolution. Farage didn't cause any of that, but he's brilliant at exploiting it; also, he's a very British kind of populist, and some people are easily fooled by his saloon bar shtick.
If the killing stops, they can share the Nobel Prize between Blair, Trump and Satan for all I care tbh.
