The Palmer situation seems more of a problem than first appeared judging by the extra stuff from Baz. I don’t think he’s ever seemed happy or settled here. His signing was a bit odd and we’ve only ever seen glimpses of his talent - and his style doesn’t give the impression of giving everything for the cause. Too often he’s ineffective for us. Doesn’t look like there’s a way back.https://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/1289370258?-1899%3A1000%3Ann_topic_top_latest
He hasn't really performed well whenever he starts, has made a few off the bench good contributions, but he clearly came here to get regular football, which for neither Sellers nor the current gaffer hasn't happened. I see he has been called up for Jamaica again, maybe his reluctance to be involved yesterday was partly arsed about being subbed in the PNE game and wanting not to get injured, if he was to get game time yesterday, which might scupper his world cup hopes.
Utterly damning. If we can get either a fee or all his wages off the books via a loan on Jan then that'd be a big win, Matazo should be back and I'd rather one of the young lads on the bench
Quite damning from reading, if true, I like the Manager’s mantra, cut of his jib, no player is above the club, well played Jak. As I said on match day thread, don’t know what was up with Palmer, didn’t miss him, harsh but true. UTT.
Might be in the minority but Palmer would have had more of an impact on the game than Gyabi yesterday, he did nothing.
Palmer for me is a very skilfull player but has only shown glimpses of what he's about. Sometimes a run in the side builds confidence but he's never quite got there. He has shown he's capable of influencing a game positively albeit he should have scored more goals with the chances he's had. If he's thrown his toys out the pram yesterday, I'd happily let Sergei decide whether he's got a future here or not.
I doubt he’d be starting after the other day’s showing. Maybe a hissy fit about only even being called in as a sub after Joseph pulled out with illness?
We signed him when we were churning loads of similar midfielders, he's never looked like an improvement on Omur, Simons, Longman, Mehlem, Seri, Traore etc and didn't impose himself when given the chance against PNE.
**** him, let him go in January. Like Jak said, no player is bigger than the Club and this is a great Club so **** off Palmer.
Let’s not read too much into it. Palmer was 21st man yesterday - reserve substitute. Joseph dropped out late in the day and Palmer was called up to the bench late - he might have assumed he wasn’t playing and forgotten his boots or turned up late. All completely unprofessional, but some way short of refusing to play or having a hissy fit.
Palmer did nothing on Tuesday night - so there was no way he was starting yesterday. Sounds like bad attitude, which is no good for the dressing room. Get rid in January. Shame, but he's never really found his form here.
I thought Palmer did ok on Tuesday and when the chips were down he kept going and played progressively. While Amir absolutely fell apart. I can see why both were subbed at half time but I thought Kasey was a bit unlucky. Turned out superbly well though, so KP had no case for keeping his starting place yesterday.
Maybe it's actually as simple as he'd been told earlier that he wouldn't be included in the match day squad, so hadn't prepared himself to play a part that morning (meals, routines, whatever). Also considering it was an early 12.30 k.o. Then got a late shout saying Joseph was ill so he was being called up as a sub but literally wasn't in a prepared state for whatever inoccuos reason. Media loves a story. ?
do you think that would be a good excuse? that makes it worse if anything its what we pay him for as the manager said
Jak actually says that it was his decision not to have Palmer on the bench as he wasn't ready, mentally ready. Nothing about Palmer refusing to be on the bench. Possibly he's not properly prepared for the game after finding out he wasn't in the initial squad which it totally unprofessional of him. Palmer has the odd good game but is largely ineffective and anonymous. I don't think he's particularly rated by the supporters at any of the other clubs he's been at either.
