I didn't expect anything here today, we are clearly still a project in development. And it showed, Leicester were a class above, and I expect them to go straight back in to the PL. No shame in being middle of the road at the minute.....
At least we got a penalty, though I doubt he'd been able to recover from that position. Defensively we still look sloppy and weak when up against quality teams. Far too fragile at the back, though no complaints about our cracking keeper....
Down to 11th in the Table, one to forget today, dust our selves down and see if we can at least get a draw from the next tough game....
Just getting in from the game. My first comment is about team selection: we are playing arguably the best team in the Championship and Sheehan decided to bench arguably our best player so far this season. There’s no way on Earth that Cullen should have started in midfield ahead of Galbraith. Yes I know Cullen scored the winner in midweek but how does that alone make him a starter against the best team in the Championship when we should be fielding our best team? Second comment, Key was out of his depth against a decent winger: he was the worst player on the pitch by a country mile. The 3 substitutions - bringing on Galbraith, Idah and Inoussa - started to change the game and having equalised via a fortuitous penalty, it seemed like we might go on to win it. However, when we were in the ascendancy and about to attack again, Cabango had a moment of madness and lost his head. Yes the guy caught him late but to run after him and charge into the guy was gross stupidity. If that had been one of their players I’d have screamed for a red card: Ben was lucky to receive only a yellow card card, but worst of all, the ball was brought back from an attacking position to just outside our penalty area for a free kick and in all honesty, our momentum evaporated at that point and we didn’t threaten their goals again. Instead, they built momentum from that moment and scored 2, hit the bar and also missed a sitter when one of theirs was through 1-on-1 with Vigouroux. My conclusion is that Sheehan still doesn’t know his best team and he needs to find the right midfield combination/formation.
We've got half a good team, maybe he can work on the other half then maybe we can compete against the better teams late on ? Need to sort that f##@££ defence out like every season. and quit the same old side n back passing ****e out !
Next game is due to be a draw or win. Although we could start the next 3 game cycle with a defeat I suppose.
