McBurnie - He was everywhere, shame he couldn’t get the goal! Pandur - How can he save a penalty & not be MOM, because of McBurnie! Hughes - Did well at the back, he steps up a bit too much for my liking, but maybe it’ll pay off soon.
Hughes Giles Pandur Hughes for me was MOTM as he almost flawless, save for the fluffed header to give away a corner at the start of the second half. Either of the last 2 slots could have gone to Egan or McBurnie. Pandur had a decent game, but his kicking was poor, but saving a pen alone ensured we kept 2 points so he had to get one of the top 3. Giles had a much better defensive display than we've been used to, so I gave him the nod.
Hughes Giles Coyle Egan just behind but was guilty of giving ball away a lot. In fact could have mentioned a few tbf
Hughes Egan Pandur, just for the penalty save. I put his dodgy goal kicks down to the windy conditions. Decent game, good win, clean sheet. Thought Sheff Utd, although it pains me to say it, will feel unlucky not to come away with at least a point. We gave them a lot of possession, although our defence stood firm especially in that late goalmouth scramble in the second half. Referee? Seemed to be letting everything go in the first half, allowing for the occasion and the wind but in the second half he was whistle happy in Utd's favour. When we finally did get a free kick it was greeted with one of the biggest cheers of the afternoon. Watched Wilder rush straight down the tunnel at the final whistle ( thought he was banned to the stands?) when McBurnie was looking for him to shake hands. May have been accidental, may have been Wilder's sh!thousery?
Not one for the purists but what a valiant effort that was, defended like our lives were on the line in that last 15, my motm reflects the clean sheet Hughes - back to doing what he does best, timely return to form McBurnie - didn't get a lot of chances but my god he was important at the other end, worked his proverbials off Giles - one of his best defensive performances against a tricky winger Harsh on Pandur for his heroics, Slater Egan and Coyle, all of them put good shifts in
