Honest opinion, we were second best without being outplayed like we were at Arsenal. Small margins, they were a bit stronger in 50/50’s, came out with the ball when they weren’t favourites to do so. They were closer to each other in attacking phases and grubbed closely at the back and in midfield.

We played pretty well and a point wouldn’t have been unfair, even three wouldn’t have been robbery.

The absolute key for me is we have to play like that against the West Ham’s, Burnley’s, Brentford’s and Sunderland’s of this world, if we do well be ok.

Oh, and for the record, I thought the ref was pretty decent. He let things go both ways. That wasn’t 12 v 11 in my honest opinion :emoticon-0148-yes:

Agree with everything apart from the ref who doesn't understand consistency.

Two “tackles” in the first half, maybe mate but, overall, I thought he was pretty good. If we had been better we’d have won, he wasn’t one of those refs where we would have to scored screamers to get the result. Again, just my opinion :emoticon-0148-yes:

Fair enough. I thought that everytime we got any momentum in the game that he gave a soft decision against us and relieved any pressure Spurs were under. To me, it had a major impact on the game and it was a constant throughout.

One specific example was a push on Gudmundssons back as the ball went out of play. Nothing given, just a throw in. Couple of minutes later Stach barely rubs shoulders with the full back (which is legal) and runs unopposed towards the Spurs area with numerous options to pick out and the ref swallows his whistle to give Spurs a way out. Should have let it go and let VAR check it later as they usually do.

That was one of many small decisions that went against us but had a major impact on how the game progressed.

For the record, i'm not usually one of those fans to blame the ref for everything but thought he was decisive today.

Happy to just agree to disagree though.

Always difficult when we lose to not blame something or someone I guess, that’s why I liked Meslier so much :emoticon-0148-yes:

We’re 7 games in with a new formation and several new players and we’re competing. We’ve played 3 of the top 4 and only Arsenal stuffed us

We can’t expect to go toe to toe with these teams yet we’re not far off. West Ham and Burnley are the two games we must not lose and we must win at least one.

It’s fine margins and we really aren’t as far behind the established teams as I thought we might be

Why is that relevant to them being in the top 3. We don’t need to remind ourselves of our signings, I’ll point out Spurs in this window

    Simmons £65m
    Kudus £68m
    Tel £35m
    Danso £25m
    Vuskovic £11m

Not to mention the players they already had and not to mention there squad value is £600m greater than ours

Hi all. Not been well. Didn’t see today’s game either. If we are competing against the better teams then that’s brilliant. Just need the results now. Deffo win Burnley and West Sham and things look miles better.

    Get better soon bud.

We're all in bad shape on this forum it seems. I'm just getting over a bad dose of covid after heart trouble earlier this year (which strangely seems to have rectified itself according to the hospital). Probably explains my mood recently.

I have a nasty sniffle at the moment. Hope you boys with proper health problems take good care of yourselves.

Re Marcos’ point. I didn’t think spurs were better than us today. I think you could tell that they were individually better… we never really got to grips with their wide guys… but I felt our team work nullified them for the most part. Stats all in our favour and we basically lost to 2 deflections. I thought a draw was probably fair and we certainly didn’t deserve to lose.

Referee… thought he let a lot go and gave us the opportunity to make it a physical game. Definitely a few times the rub didn’t go our way - the Stach one being maybe the most obvious - but you tend to notice them more against your own team.

Losing 2 1 to this Spurs side isn't ideal by any stretch of the imagination, but in my opinion, it's not as bad as some will be making out.

Yes, Spurs finished 17th last season, but they had Ange in charge, and now they have a lot better coach in charge in the shape of Frank. To prove my point, let's just take a look at Forest right now and the fact that if they lose tomorrow, then Ange will be out the door on Monday.

I'm looking at the next 5 games on the run up to the end of November (Minus Man City), and I think we've got a pretty easy run.
