Good game too. Bayern looked unstoppable going forward but Bremen did try to play them at their own game. Suga had an ok game too (sounds strange after losing 4-0).
I see Juric has his Atalanta side unbeaten in their first 5 league games, and Sulemana has 2 goals and 1assist for them. Former Saints continuing the trend of seemingly failing upwards.
The ref had given it. At no point in the replay does the ball go anywhere near a hand. I don’t think you can call it an error… corruption???
It does make you wonder yeah because at any angle, you can see it goes nowhere near his hand. (love Joe Hart's comment though: "Oh here's VAR, trying to ruin everyone's fun" )
Having moved this conversation to the correct thread, I'll add my thoughts. While I highly doubt it was corruption, in was certain;y incompetent. I can give the referee the benefit of the doubt giving handball live but VAR has to give the goal. I've absolutely no idea what replay he could have watched that would have doubted that the referee made the wrong call.
BBC report: His celebrations were ended by referee Tobias Stieler blowing for handball, a decision backed up by a lengthy video assistant referee (VAR) check, although footage appeared to show the ball did not hit a hand.
Ah OK, didn't realise that. Yeah, having looked at it again, I guess the ref's position behind the play, made it seem like Iheanacho's outstretched arm may have guided the ball. That type of situation is exactly what the VAR is for and he managed to royally screw it up. Maybe a different game if that stands...
However it was reached it was the wrong decision. And they spent ages looking at it. I was watching the game and the commentators started out saying this won’t take long, it only takes a quick glance and you can see no hands. Then they started asking why it was taking so long. Then disbelief in the decision.
