The culture in the Met will never change. Seen this sort of thing as far back as the 90’s and the Stephen Lawrence case. Recently it was the Sarah Everard murder during Covid. It was all supposed to be changing then. This is just another one they’ll promise will make them change before the next one comes along. Rinse and repeat.
There's plenty of good police people out there but it's a job that attracts a disproportionately high amount of people who shouldn't have power over other people. Others, the culture corrupts. That's not going to change. Ever.
The police don't care about violence against women. I've reported things and had it dismissed by the police. In domestic violence cases, it's always the woman that has to keep moving on to keep out of the way of the perpetrator. Even when you manage to get out of the relationship, the violence doesn't end as he's still there lurking and worrying you but the police do nowt about it.
