Just a quick note on this - I'm not wholly against it or anything daft like that. It just feels a bit regressive to me, and I'm not sure he brings enough that it makes sense to disrupt stuff. Far rather we improved other positions than the one we're actually pretty good in.
James Trafford was mooted not long ago although it's reported that Pep wants to keep him as his back up GK.
Exactly what I as gonna say! Was arguably his best position when with us. He’s only 31 too and still fit as a fiddle. I’d love him in attacking midfield
Yep. JWP is Prem quality. I just don't know if we can say that about anyone else in the squad. He's a level or two above Downes, with a far better attitude and fitness. And of course the free kicks. Azaz wouldn’t hack it a level up. You definitely notice the Prem-level players. Thought Mee and Davies were very good for Sheff Utd. Also, he’s a leader. We need that.
I have mixed views on JWP. He took aged to reach his potential and I think really blossomed under Ralph. For 2 or 3 seasons he was exceptional and craftsman with free kicks. I felt he was very poor the season we first got relegated and maybe sold him when he still had some value. His main assets were free kicks and corners but rarely scored from open play. I loved his contributions to Saints yet I feel he will end up on loan to lower Championship club. Just do not see him as a positive addition for Saints but i do feel his experience would be an asset for a club like Wrexham. No longer good enough for West Ham.
I think people would be more sympathetic if he came out as Trans and not a fashion victim. Makes you think fondly of Hassan Kachloul's dress sense ,
Didn’t JWP have a spell with us where he was playing as the 10 and scored a few? I seem to remember Everton away under Jones may have been an example, although maybe not the best one considering our performance that season. Azaz needs more time, obviously, but I think JWP would be a better option there if we had him. Highly doubt we sign him, though.
Yeah will be interesting how they view it. Obviously dominated last season but expected given their budget/squad. I’d imagine the owners would be looking at having a good crack at back to back promotions with the investment they made this summer
The Wrexham love in is making me support the Brum. Just now Gray was caught off and the commentator said he needed to work harder. 30 seconds later a Wrexham player is caught even further offside and he praises him for his running.
Nah **** Brum. Horrible bunch of ****s. Plus them wearing their away kit is another reason to support Wrexham.
