Awful. The world is too filled with hate and the death of innocents.

To ensure martyrdom. Wear something which appears to be a PBIED and you can make sure you're not ending up in a cell.

I thought that too, must have had some intelligence that something might happen to arrive that quickly?

    Great work from them though.

BBC Radio 4 advised that there are always armed response police teams that are available to tackle these kinds of incidents within such time frames. My initial opinion was that the police had intelligence but had lost contact with the suspect and failed to react.

Seemingly positive news about a British police force after yesterday's revelations about the Met although I think there will be an enquiry as to how readily they resulted to lethal force. The suspect was shot to incapacitate him but attempted to get up despite the instructions from the firearms officers who then shot him a second time. It does look like the police acted by the book.

He had what looked like an explosive device on him. Police absolutely right to shoot him dead.

Not really revelations! This stuff has been endemic in the police - and big chunks of our culture - for a long time.

I was just thinking something similar. Yesterday's news shows that there are bad eggs everywhere and we shouldn't judge the majority with the actions of a minority. Who would be a policeman really, trying to protect us, but we have to ask questions about if what they did (saving more bloodshed) was 'by the book' or not. Hats off to them today, reacted and saved undoubted more carnage.

Well yes Ian. I would hope ARU's would "readily" respond with lethal force against a terrorist who'd already killed two and was presenting as wearing a PBIED.

I had not realised that armed police units were quite so prevalent.

To be honest, I am not really surprised by the attack , shocking as it is. Given the situation in Gaza, there will always be radicals believing the attack was an appropriate action. I am surprised we have not seen more of this and I wonder just how many other attacks have been thwarted.

On the face of it, it is quite shocking how foreign conflicts can now manifest themselves on UK soil whether attacks like these or Russian drones flying in our skies. Unfortunately, I can see the attacks on synagogues becoming more prevalent as Israel continues with it's genocide in Gaza and our Muslim nationals rightly increasingly become more incensed but wrongly perpetrate crimes like this.

The fact that this "journalist" was in post for 7 months and most of the footage he got was from when these people were pissed in the pub would suggest its not really endemic.

But yes, the police recruits from society. It's not that surprising that it reflects that society

What have Jews got to do with Israel? I would hazard a guess that most of the Jews in the synagogue today were British rather than Israeli.

I was not surprised by the documentary and was left wondering if a similar fly on the wall documentary would come to the same conclusions in other professions or industries.

It is not really shocking as people perceived this as normal behaviour within police forces as whole and not just the Met. I agree that they have a difficult job to do and that many people in the police forces in the UK are genuine and empathetic.

That said, I feel that last night's documentary was no surprise as disgraceful as it was. I think we seriously need to consider disbanding the Met and replace it with a new force. They have been given ample chance to get their house in order and have failed. The accusations of racism and misogyny cannot be contested and I just feel they need to be replaced.

I would add that these kinds of views are pretty mainstream and experienced a similar experience this year with a relatives friend who worked in senior management (ex services) and hated immigrants, supported Farage and displayed a Swastika in his hall. I had to keep my opinion to myself but was really shocked that he was comfortable expressing similar views. I do feel that these views are common place in UK institutions as people are emboldened by Farage I would suggest that similar views are endemic in the armed services too and probably little changed after the issues in the North of Ireland, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The sex-obsessed custody sergeant was sober and on duty, particularly when he rushed to watch the woman dressed as a police officer being searched. The officer who was completely dismissive of the alleged rape victim was also sober and on duty.

Of course, as the reporter was at pains to point out, the vast majority of officers were diligent and correct in their conduct, but the fact that the individuals filmed were able to get away with their disgusting behaviour for the time of the filming raises questions.

I would largely agree with this statement but a Jewish charity in UK sent £1 million to an Israeli militia in 2023. Still plenty of people with dual UK/ Israeli nationality.

We would rightly be up in arms in British Muslims sent money to IS. Not convinced that sending money to militias in Israel is not as serious.

In other news, Reform twats Tice and Dorrees are doing the rounds on the news circuit accusing Starmer of inciting violence against Farage. The are both repeating lies that Starmer asked people to take up arms and attack Reform.

What Starmer actually said was: we need to fight for the soul of this country.

This is the party of idiots, for idiots. I know Britain is full of idiots so roll on their election next time around.

Starmer has also reduced the monies currently being spent on Farage's security. It did make me reflect somewhat given that Farage has already been subject to one death threat. On the face of it, this does seem punitive and putting Farage at risk . However, it is worth noting that free speech comes with responsibility and if you are going to spout racist and hateful lies , you must realise that there may be a consequence.

Just feel it I'd a bit rich seeing as Farage's rhetoric was responsible for the murder of Jo Cox.

And once again, vitriolic rhetoric raises its ugly head and has consequences. But as it’s against “the Jews”, and by inference an attack on Israel (insane and misguided though that is) it’ll be weakly justified, because it’s somehow on point for those that believe themselves right thinking.
