So, why when n OffTheLine started on politics and I was only replying did you lock me out and not him? Same with Chazz, goes on about others posting things but does so himself with no comeback. Other posters make fun of people dying or being murdered whilst making themselves out to be virtuous souls better than others.
I don't believe I've locked you out of anything, at least not recently and I've no idea what you're referring to.
You locked me out of the offensive jokes thread. Well, I assume it was you. If not apologies. The original posts I was replying to remained. Same happened to another poster. Seems some people are treated differently to others.
Ye, not even sure it's about cheap stuff, just about not paying a middle man to get what we want or need. Before streaming/downloads, you either paid £15 for a cd from hmv or got it for £9 online - the artist and publisher got the same money, just weren't paying a shop to sell it to you. Plus the time saving. Of course there will be a knock on effect of councils losing on business rates and retail staff reduced, but then town centres have to recalibrate. Having said and argued this, I do believe that the likes of Amazon should be obligated to pay the same levels of tax as small retailers and this is a separate issue.
Freeman, Grattan and Avon catalogues must have affected the high street as did fruit &veg, butchers and fish delivery vans, even ice cream vans and milkmen, you could shop from home before the Internet!
If someone buys clothes then it’s almost always better to ‘feel’ the fabric check the size and enjoy the experience - if they don't like shopping then it’s not the shops fault it’s a personal dislike . If I order from a website something that is based on a picture but is open to ‘variation’ then when it doesn’t fit you have to take it back to a collection point , re order and hope again or cancel the whole episode disappointed . I was reflecting people’s laziness - slightly off the subject here’s an example Got bus into town 16 year old and his 40 ish year old mum got on the bus just past HRi and got off at Tower - it’s about 400 yds max ffs - they weren’t overweight they were just effin lazy !
Certainly, some people's appetite or lack of for walking in modern Britain is pretty depressing. Don't know how we got to a point where so many people learn to hate or fear it.
You only have to go back to lockdown How many neighbours did you see out for a a walk ? Not many near me
I walked for around 7 and a half hours on Saturday with my friend who is about two thirds way on his monumental Walk 92, visiting every football league club on foot. I met him not far from Scunny on his walk to the MKM and it was fantastic. Walking through little villages, along the Humber and across the bridge served to remind me of just how much I enjoy walking, exploring and fresh air. I was in bits the next day but yesterday I got 3 miles in and will definitely be making sure I get two good walks a week in again, bus ride somewhere and walk home. I'm off to join him again for 2 or 3 days when he gets to London. Partly because I want to support him and partly because I want to nosey at a few stadiums I've never been to in that area without buying hundred quid match tickets!! Slightly off topic, and very disappointing, was that of all 92 clubs only City would not have anyone at the ground to meet him to welcome him/us and talk to him about their community work (which is the purpose of the walk as well as making sure he is the first guy to ever do this challenge). Thought that was really poor form from them. Scunny aren't even in the 92 but when they saw he posted he was staying there between Donny and hull they contacted him and got him to visit as well as fed him. If anyone is interested Xav is somewhere down the East coast at the minute on his way to Peterborough, Norwich and Ipswich. His Walk 92 social media channels are a fairly interesting follow.
I believe I asked "Is that just outside the West of Ferriby ?" to the picture of the warehouse that was posted. I clearly knew it was not in the Hull city centre. Why did you even bother responding to my question I wonder?
Nothing new there. Back in the day Dave Dewberry and a few others did a 24 hr sponsored walk around the pitch at Boothferry Park to raise funds for the club. The walk ended before a Saturday 3.00 pm kick off and besides not even offering those on the walk a drink or anything the club made them pay to watch the game. A few weeks later Dewberry was banned from entering the ground.
Madness isnt it. Some of the ways clubs have looked after him is truly heart warming, from pizzas, showers, cost of hotel covered etc to literally a fan fare from the staff at Rotherham cheering him up the street and into the stadium. At Hull City we got a picture outside reception, a walk around the stadium outside and then I dropped him at his hotel ha ha. It was also interesting he passed comment about how little 'Hull City' there is on the stadium or the walkway to londsborough street compared to other grounds he is seeing. I've never really noticed but he is right. The bridges are blue, the stadium is pretty much plain with very few City (or Hull FC) badges or references anywhere. Just another reason perhaps why away teams and supporters dont seem to worry about playing at the MKM.
