I'm in two minds about this. I would be open to it, but he wouldn't be an automatic pick in the first team with Jander and Charles playing the way they are. But he'd be a huge asset in the Championship and it would be amazing if he stuck a free kick in the top corner at Fratton Park.
As much as I never rated him as highly as most Saints fans, he clearly would be an asset in the Championship. I guess if there is any truth in it it’s more see how Charles/Jander/Downes are doing come January. If they are performing well (especially Jander and Charles) then I don’t think I’d want him coming back and taking their place as they could be a future PL midfield for us. If we/they aren’t doing that well then by all means bring him in on loan for the rest of the season and see what happens from there
Not gonna happen. He's on £115k per week and he'd expect guaranteed minutes, which then means two of Charles/Downes/Jander are out, having spent half a season playing together and settling the team down. I don't see it at all
I can’t see him adding anything to the squad that we don’t already have. We’ve even got a free kick specialist now.
Poor Prowsey. The loan at Forest was a disaster last season barely played, the got sent back to Spammers six months early, THEN Nuno gets the job a WH!
Considering Downes' illness (and disciplinary!) issues, I'd say we are light. We have 3 senior CMs and one is often out. Plus, the opportunity to sign a proven PL player in the championship is rare.
Maybe the club can afford to employ him as our dead-ball coach, akin to American Football specialist coaches. And he'd be a positive influence in the dressing room. Or is that Theo?
The strange thing is there have been others that left in a cloud and I would have them back. He was our Captain, left with genuine dignity and loves the club. I just feel we are different and so is he now.
Nah, he'd get a free kick in a promising position, then draw on his inner Adam Armstrong, and boot it into the stands
Can he though? He's never been an effective AM, and if we're going down that route, I'd rather give Scienza a go there. I know he wasn't playing AM at West Ham, but he's made eight assists in the three seasons (well, two and a little bit) he's been there, and that's with being on corners and free kicks. Either way, he's not coming back on the wages he's on, so it's a bit of a non-starter I suspect.
