Follish decision to rotate squad, cost us 2 points. Stupid decision which could come back to haunt us come the end of the season.
We lacked quality in the final third. When Smyth failed to pick out an unmarked Kone in the 6 yard box was the key moment. I knew we weren't going to score after that. A wasted opportunity tonight. We didn't create nearly enough to win the game. You should always play your best eleven regardless of fixtures and schedule.
Madsen probably best player and played less than a half, some turnaround. Otherwise lacklustre again and not too many clear chances
Couldn't go tonight. Very disappointing to not get the win but I note the comments about them being a good team. Nevertheless, we won't get a sniff at top six if we don't beat teams near the bottom.
Remind me why the club employs ball boys? Complete waste - never bother to actually get the ball back to one of our players quickly
Dreadful game & had no pace in first half, should’ve played Madsen & Saito from the off, Frey & Kone didn’t work tonight, Norington Davies my mom but can’t say much for rest of them, disappointing result & performance
Quite simply we didn’t play well enough or do enough to get more than the point, Oxford deserved theirs
Poor team selection from JS. Thought Burrell made the biggest impact, his pace was clearly missed in the first half when we seemed to have no idea what to do beyond the half way line, although Frey played better than he did at Wednesday. Once Burrell came on Kone started pressing higher and got into their faces and Burrell’s runs made space for others- shame they didn’t use it
Picking up another clean sheet was a plus, after the horrendous 7-1 our defence needed sorting, it seems better, need to focus on scoring now.
Poku will give us another option that isn’t Dembele soon which has to be a good thing. My piss after half an Amstel is stronger.
Really drab evening watching that...one of those games I was quite relieved when it was over. Frey and Kone seemed like they were both trying to do the same thing. I was expecting Frey to try and win the aerial battle and Kone to pounce onto the loose ball and run at them, but in reality the ball was played into Frey's feet and he had to turn and run, which isn't his forte. Frey had one decent shot but it was easily saved, otherwise those two were pretty ineffective as a front two.
JS always said he would rotate his squad this week. I don't think we can slate this decision until after the Bristol game. Win that 5pts out of 9 and unbeaten in 6 happy days great managing of the squad, lose and worst decision ever!
I get squad rotation but surely the key games to win are those at home against weaker sides? Last night was poor against a there for the taking Oxford side
I thought Madsen had a very decent cameo indeed last night Almost like a new signing. I don't know what has been said to him or what he's doing differently in training, but he's been transformed. Very pleasing indeed
Good thing from last night Cook got a whole game in ( everyone knew Mbengue was going to miss a match very soon). So Morrison and Cook should be ok for Saturday. I assume the idea was to hold the game safely for 60 minutes and if necessary ( and it was) bring on the attack troops for last 30 minutes. Good plan if it worked. It didn't. Stephan has learnt something..nothing can be taken for granted in Championship. We didn't lose. This is a marathon not a sprint. We are definitely no where near top 2 at moment. Stay in touch, build and learn ( Stephan has only been with us 8 matches). Let's see where he gets us with this able group of players
