When my dad died in June 1997, I flew back from Australia for a month to help mum. His funeral was held on midsummers day at 2:00pm - it was 3C and had snowed that morning. The hills around the cemetery were covered with the stuff.
Very picturesque but not very pleasant - my Australian winter clothes were totally inadequate.

Oh dear, yorkie. Is it painful? Do take it easy. Elevation is meant to be good, but also not being static. I look forward to hearing of your exploits after following both pieces of advice simultaneously! Look after yourself. <ok>

Devastated by news earlier about my younger sister. She's been receiving chemotherapy to which she was responding well until this morning. Her doctors told her that there's nothing more that can be done for her and she's now been placed in palliative care.

With her living in Germany and me in Australia, then back in Scotland we rarely saw each other, but did communicate on a near-weekly basis, either by phone, Skype or by email. Am going to miss her...
