McBurnie deserved to be named Player of the Match. Until half time Hull were dire, 3 subs and behold a different team. NE seemed to be quick off the blocks, were superior in the first half but then ran out of energy. Penalty or not? It is a long time since NE were awarded a penalty. And there have been occasions when a penalty was justified. Apparently, Sky commentators thought it should have been awarded.

Early arrival two laps round the ground, got deafened by a lad playing the piano followed by an impressive atmospheric build up to the game, it worked so well that City were two down in ten minutes. First came after an early corner, thought one of ours missed a great chancee from the initial cross but no fear the ball fell to Small and he fired right footed past the keeper. The second came from the modern day tactic of the keeper passing it out from the back except he passed to Whiteman, ball to Smith two up, all to easy and that was the problem it was too easy and we probably made the mistake of not going for a third which would have killed the game stone dead. Hull offered so little in the first half that we were probably lulled into a false we have won this attitude. Half time came and the home side made three changes, made a different nd they identified our weakness down our right hand side, Small good player as he is, is not as comfortable on the right hand side as he is on the left, Millar and Giles exploited this and the lead was reduced almost straight from the kick off, McBurnie from close range. Game on and a relisation from the home faithful that maybe they were still in it. We were poor in the second period, a bit of dozy defending by Lindsay near the corner flag nearly led to a goal, the ball ws deflected away following a shot. We did drag ourselves back into it missed chances, we looked to have weathered the storm but with 15 to go, down the left they went again, ball into 6 yard box and there is Oli again, level. End to end as both sides pressed from the winner, it nearly came with the last kick off the game Lungstrom from just outside the box, it's going in until another of the Iversen's brilliant saves. Probably a fair result but we should have been more ruthless in the first period. We stopped them playing. I don't think they had any opportunities but we said at half-time we've got to be a lot better in possession of the ball and funnily enough when they come out and score two goals we have more chances in the second half than we do in the first. “We put four great crosses in. Alfie (Devine) probably should score, Milly (Milutin Osmajić) probably should score, Jebbo (Daniel Jebbison) has got a good chance to score so as much as we looked in control in the first half, which we were because our out of possession work was good, we were still poor on the ball. “Crossing the ball wasn't very good. We didn't create many opportunities for the control we had. We warned the lads they were going to come out to score, so to give a goal away so early [was disappointing], but we know all about Oli McBurnie. We had him at Sheffield United and he’s a top striker. “We wanted to stop it at source. We've let two crosses come in, which we stopped all first half. We’re hugely disappointed to lose a 2-0 lead naturally, but I do think when you look back at the game in the second half, we have more opportunities to get a third, and we just never take them.” North End looked on course at the break for all three points, but a triple change for the hosts and McBurnie’s first goal of the night just three minutes into the second half swung the pattern of the game. As Stuart refers to, PNE still had their chances though before and after the equaliser, and might have had a penalty on another day for a pull on Jordan Storey inside the box. Stuart said: “I think if you’re 2-0 up, it does feel like a defeat. We've thrown it away, if you like. We knew they were going to come at us but we weren't as good without the ball. “Having said that, they've made three changes at half-time. Little (Regan) Slater is going to give them energy. (Joe) Gelhardt’s a decent player and obviously (Liam) Millar coming on down the left-hand side gives (Ryan) Giles a little bit more space as well. “Their substitutions helped them without a doubt. It lifted the crowd. But if we do our job properly early on in the game and keep it 2-0 until 60 minutes and quieten the crowd [it makes it easier] but when they score early on, the crowd get up and the momentum's in their favour. “As I keep saying, look back at the opportunities we have, and there's a shout for a penalty obviously later on, which does look like a penalty kick. But overall, we’re hugely disappointed not to come away with three points, but that is our fault.” Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirovic told BBC Radio Humberside: "It was a great reaction from the players at half-time. At the end we have to be satisfied with this point. "We tried everything in the second half to turn this game, we needed to be better on the ball and take more risks. We made three substitutions, they lifted us and brought us a lot of energy on the pitch and also we were very dangerous in the attacking phase. "In the first half we made too many mistakes, we were struggling all half because we lost our confidence and we didn't cover the ball well. "They were better in challenges than us and this was something we needed to change at half-time, to bring more fight, more character to put them under pressure, especially if we scored in the first 15 minutes."
