I can't see anything from Ron, so here's what we've got. The first two games have already finished: notable scores are 3 each for Musty and Plym on AFC Wimbledon's 2-1 win at home against Wycombe.
I thought the scores might have been higher this week but Barnsley in particular let us down. We all put it down for a home win although only Plym put a joker on it. In fact, they lost 0-2 to lowly Port Vale. Bradford City, Argyle and Mansfield did what we required of them though. Away In BC and that NotDistant bloke shared top match score of 13, each built in 9 out of 12 correct results rather than on red scores. Lyndhurst and Musty both got sixes form Mansfield's win over Rotherham. SMH got the Goal Time: 30 forecast versus 31 actual. I can't resist saying that I would have shared the Goal Total points with Joe and Plym with each of us accurate to within 1 goal. What a shame I chose last week to turn that on rather than this. There was very little movement in the Top Three, with Away In BC, Lyndhurst and Musty all getting similar scores. I can't find a submission from Ron. We go again on Tuesday with two games and another one on Thursday. Most of you have already submitted forecasts for those three. What I hadn't realised is that the Rotherham v Bradford City game is in fact on Thursday not Tuesday and forms part of the following weekend sequence rather than being a singleton created by a previous postponement or similar. It doesn't much matter: if you haven't already done them, I'll need forecasts for those three games as soon as you can.
As I keep forgetting, can I put mine in now please Doncaster v Burton 1-1 Wycombe v Barnsley 2-1 Blackpool v AFC Wimbledon 1-1 JOKER Bolton v Peterborough United 3-0 Cardiff City v Leyton Orient 2-0 Huddersfield v Stockport 1-1 Lincoln v Exeter 4-1 Plymouth Argyle v Wigan 3-1 Port Vale v Northampton 1-1 Reading v Mansfield 2-0 Stevenage v Luton 2-2 Goal 14 min all
Are you sure that you weren't at the Labour Conference love-in yesterday.....waving your little union jack....clapping and shout and standing up at the appropiate times when beckoned.....they solved all our national problems with a bit of dancing around the aisles......and then all down the pub to continue the love-in......or maybe they had been to the pub before and that is why they looked so much like lemmings looking for a wall to jump off......and that is our government that we are depending on to save our country.....on second thoughts maybe the Reform Party might bring some sanity.....there wasn't much sign of it yesterday.
Wrong thread Plym. Wrong country too in fact. We fought against racism and fascism in WW2. It has no place here.
I used to enjoy watching BBC's Newsnight programme...10.30pm on BBC 2......it has changed from a 45 minute programme to a condensed 30 minute format. One of its regular presenters is Victoria Derbyshire...who goes out of her way to pick an argument with anyone....(including her own shadow if necessary.) Last night she was overseeing a total Labour Conference love-in....her panel of four where all die hard Labour supporters......no alternative view in sight. There was so much need to challenge some of the hysterical things said during the afternoon conference......just little flag waving hordes of psyched up excited party goers....lapping up every word their lifeless leader said.....you would think that they had just solved the worlds problems in one foul stroke. ALSO......There Deputy PM David Lammy was shooting off the top of his head yesterday......and he hastely had to retract some of the things he said......how he and Starmer can talk to each other without falling out is a mystery. SORRY notDistant wrong thread again....my apology.
What I've done is to score the two Tuesday games here. I will carry your forecasts for the Thursday night Rotherham v Bradford over to the weekend, together with Ron's, and score a full card of 12 games then. To be honest, it's hardly worth bothering with the Tuesday game: four of us (exc Ron) got big fat zeros and my prediction of a 3-0 win for Cardiff looks as sick as the proverbial parrot. For anyone who missed it, the big event of the night was elsewhere, and not in the Champions League either. That nice man Chris Wilder was sent off for kicking a football at one of his own fans at half time. Completely out of character of course. I promise I won't keep going on about it although I am off down to Mutley later on today to get a celebratory tattoo of the scene.
For the avoidance of doubt, here is the match text for the Thursday - Saturday round of matches. Rotherham United - Bradford City (Thursday) Doncaster Rovers - Burton Albion Wycombe Wanderers - Barnsley Blackpool - AFC Wimbledon Bolton Wanderers - Peterborough United Cardiff City - Leyton Orient Huddersfield Town - Stockport County Lincoln City - Exeter City Plymouth Argyle - Wigan Athletic Port Vale - Northampton Town Reading - Mansfield Town Stevenage - Luton Town PS It strikes me as I check the forecasts that there might be a possibility that someone wants to deploy their joker on Thursday's Rotherham v Bradford game. If so, let me know before the kick-off for that game.
