    Boooooooooooo..
The reaction of a few at full time was a little unkind... I was disappointed with the result as much as the next Gills' fan - but - the overall performance didn't deserve the negativity that some people gave.
I thought the difference in the first half was that Gills gave Harrogate far too much time and space on the ball - especially in midfield...As for going forward - well - Gills didn't ! -- well, at least not with any pace. This allowed Harrogate to get into position and defend (( with far more intent than Gills engaged a Harrogate player with the ball. ))) - and once Harrogate got their goal (((( how do 4 Gills players allow the scorer to go past them - without any engagement )))), then half the pitch was always going to be a bus park !.
In the 2nd half, it was virtually one-way traffic - with Gills umpteen attempts on goal were all successful in hitting a Harrogate defender ! At least Gills tried to rescue the situation -- in recent seasons Gills have struggled to even manufacture any chance to score... On a different day, Gills would have scored from 2 or 3 of today's attempts.... Gills have played worse and won (( this season )) but - the boos at the end did nothing to show any appreciation that the Gills players (( of Division 4 standard ) did give honest commitment.

As for Star Player - I shall award it to the Harrogate defence... If the display was from a Gills team 1-0 up away from home, I'd be very happy.

Poor first half, better 2nd but on a day when we needed that 'good bench' to provide a finish for us they were to a man disappointing looking less potent than the players they replaced.
    1. Gale (by a mile)
    2. Nevitt
    3. Coleman (the only sub who made a difference)

Appreciate I'm a day late so apologies @patchy70 but I was able to make use of the cheap seats in the Brian Moore Stand on Saturday and attended of course to bring the jinx and end our club's longest ever unbeaten run. First half we gave them far too much time, space and respect and were too often cut down the middle. I was calling out for Coleman to be utilised and fortunately he was brought on half time. Sadly though that meant we lost Bradley Dack who I think could have been the difference that half when we laid an onslaught onto their box. So many wasted corners that dropped out to the edge of the box where we'd expect Dack to be sitting only for him to be off the pitch and Jonny Williams dithering over whether to shoot or play it wide, which was usually the latter. Harrogate had a game plan and they executed it to perfection. No complaints from me on that regard, we've done that ourselves to enough teams over the 21 games. I do think this saturday would give an opportunity to freshen up a couple of faces with Nevitt looking like he will never score again and Andy Smith starting to look more and more suspect at the back. SPH & Ogie for me should come in.

    Anyways onto the ratings:
    1. Sam Gale - The lad is too good for us.
    2. Ethan Coleman - Was exactly what we needed to nullify Harrogate's threat through the middle, sadly we didn't have that first half.
    3. Jonny Smith - Probably looked the most threatening we had first half, decision making may not have been the best at times but certainly tried to create positive attacks.
