I wish they'd decided this earlier, it would have saved a lot of work when I researched my family tree, finding it going back hundreds of years in England. It's difficult to go back much further, as the genocide of the harrying of the north means records are hard to establish. If one of the parents of a brown kid is English, they are mixed race & considered half English. Presumably the child could apply for citizenship from the other parents lineage.
