It's a similar situation to what's happened in Cornwall council. Reform won the majority of votes, but not enough to win the seat outright. They had two weeks to try and form a working council party and they just fell out with all of the other councillors because their plans were unworkable. So the Lib Dems formed a minority council with a coalition from Labour and Tory councillors. Reform have a say on that council, but they were simply unfit to lead it This is the reality of Reform when they are voted in. All mouth and no actual workable policies.
Not been a good day today but this cheered me up. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/09/27/george-galloway-detained-under-terrorism-act/
Nah nothing changes for me mate. Never been asked for my national insurance number as someone pays me in cash tbh Its the clones buried in the system that will suffer mainly
Nationalisation of the railways, the Workers Rights Act, Leasehold Reform Act and Tenants Rights Act all making their way through Parliament, reduced NHS waiting lists, VAT on private schools, Inheritance Tax on the landed gentry, all says they’re delivering on quite a bit of that. It takes time to put right 14 years of austerity, not to mention 40 years of right wing libertarian economics, but it’s not true at all that Starmer’s government are the same as what we had before. They’ve made some huge mistakes and scored a few own goals, and in today’s world that’s enough to have most people demanding they go straight in the bin. But just like football fans who always want to sack the manager after a few bad results, most people are basically clueless; which brings us to the real problem with democracy.
I thought the Leasehold Reform Act was brought in by the Tories not Labour, something Michael Gove was working on until they got booted out? As for the Workers Rights Act, no one has cared about the binmen losing £8k per annum out of their wages, seems to have fallen on deaf ears, because Unite are the wrong sort of Union or something. As for waiting times of which I am one... 11 September 2025 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3dr52l1j3yo I couldn't give a toss either way, just sounds like the usual bullshit to me, depending on what team colour you support.
I’ve not read the text with the paywall but seen normal people discussing it and it’s a misleading headline because even the most reputable news outlets are just clickbait factories now. Was just one for Sucky really though it is a mental topic to find a positive angle on.
Strong words from kier regarding anyone who dares question the boat hoppers and the government's enabling of the mass invasion "You are the enemy"
Having watched some of the Labour party conference, and for someone who voted them in power, I'm pretty disgusted to the new low that Starmer has stooped. If I wanted rhetoric politics I'd vote Farage - Today at least two of his high profile MP's engaged in what I'll call name calling. Now cast your minds back after attacks on MP's remembering there are two dead after those attacks, and also on the back of Angela Rayner referring to Boris Johnson as scum, we were assurred by Starmer that the rhetoric was going to be cleaned up and in short stopped...'Setting the highest of standards in public life is not just about better behaviour or decision-making, though it will improve both.' Yet today the media are more interested in the name calling, that took place, the very language that Keir promised to kick out of parliament more ot less. Looking at the newspaper reviews and I can see the Daily Mail headline for tomorrow is the day Labour dragged politics into the gutter. And you know what, they are right. Clearly this has all occurred because the Prime Minister now see's Reform as the threat, I've never seen it like that, but after recent weeks, I'm starting to change my mind. If you want to get dragged into the sewer by Farage and Co, don't be surprised when no one votes for you. Our next budget is in November, I've constantly asked myself why not in October, why only weeks from Christmas and 3 weeks before Parliament recess, my concern at the moment is nothing to do with the opposition, because the next General Election is 3-4 years away, I'm concerned about what you are going to do to food inflation, how many more people will be pushed onto food banks. Utterly disgraceful by Labour today. Maybe they have nothing to offer which is why they are going down this road, sadly it will wait until the next politician to be attacked and I'll refer straight back to this day. Language is important and today it reached a new low.
