v v Games coming thick and fast another tough game against Ipswich Town who have just returned from the premiership to the championship. Ipswich have not had a great start back in the championship however only sit two points behind city on 9 points. Bristol City should have come back from Preston with all three points after dominating the play-however only bringing the one back. Ipswich did win at home 2-1 against Pompey. I believe Ipswich have sold their full allocation a impressive stat for a Tuesday night game and a nine hour round trip. This is the second of three tough games in a week with QPR up next at Ashton Gate. A big crowd is expected tomorrow night and if city can get the three points that will be a cracking set of 4 from 6 against Preston and Ipswich. Predictions please log in to view this image We say: Bristol City 1-1 Ipswich Town Bristol have enjoyed a strong start to the season, though their last two performances have been a little underwhelming. Ipswich will be looking to take full advantage, and they will be buoyed by a solid head-to-head record – one which includes a season double last term. Bearing everything in mind, we are backing a draw. Sky Sports - Bristol City vs Ipswich Town. Sky Bet Championship. 7:45pm, Tuesday 30th September 2025. Ashton Gate Stadium. Bristol City 0 Ipswich Town 0 “Not entirely convinced”: Bristol City vs Ipswich Town predictions The72’s writers offer their Bristol City vs Ipswich Town predictions ahead of the Championship clash on Tuesday. Bristol City host Ipswich Town in the Championship on Tuesday night in a meeting between two sides with promotion ambitions. Bristol City welcome Ipswich Town to Ashton Gate off the back of a goalless draw against Preston North End on Saturday afternoon. Anis Mehmeti and Mark Sykes both went close for the Robins, but the spoils were shared at Deepdale. Nonetheless, it makes for a respectable result, as North End have only lost once in the Championship themselves and occupy a play-off place. Gerhard Struber’s men sit 4th coming into this round of midweek futures, one point from the automatic promotion spots. It has been an encouraging start, with Radek Vitek among those impressing early on. As for Ipswich Town, they claimed a much-needed win at the end of a week shrouded by talk of their abandoned game at Blackburn Rovers. It was a drab performance before being saved by the rain at Ewood Park, so a 2-1 win over Portsmouth made for a good response. Marlon Pack pulled one back for Pompey late on, but first-half goals from Jaden Philogene and George Hirst endured ITFC were in the driving seat. Kieran McKenna and co still occupy a fairly underwhelming 12th place at this early stage. However, with the Blackburn tie abandoned and set to be replayed, they’re technically coming into the Bristol City tie off the back of consecutive wins. Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game… Ashton Gate is a tough place to go, and with Bristol City performing well under Struber, Ipswich Town will be in for a tough game here. ITFC are yet to win on the road, so they’ll be out to get a result here. “What could be a difference maker is the form of Jaden Philogene. The winger is showing sparks of the talent that saw him rise to prominence while on loan at Hull City. “I’m not entirely convinced the visitors are back to the levels needed to get one over the Robins here though. We’ve seen some really good stuff from them at both ends, and I think that could see them claim a result here. “I’ll say this ends 1-1, which is an outcome neither side should frown upon.” Prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Ipswich Town Charlie Hodgson “This could be a Championship classic in my opinion. Bristol City have hit a slight slump after an excellent start, but back at home, they will be confident. “Ipswich Town will certainly not be lacking confidence either after two straight wins. They are not at their best yet, but with the quality they have, they can cause anyone problems. “I’m not sure there is much to separate the two sides, with all that said though. Bearing that in mind, I think that this will end in a point for both at Ashton Gate.” Prediction: Bristol City 2-2 Ipswich Town My prediction 2-1 Bristol City.
I think this is a tough fixture and Ipswich always seem to beat us home and away I’d be happy with a point but think we’ll get none
PNE were the first team w've played in the top 10 and we deserved to win. Perhaps we might be better than I think OR there isn't stand out teams this year. Whatever, not sure anyone can predict the result tomorrow night. Sykes will be a huge loss if he's not fit.
One game we really could have done with having a fit knight, he’s going to be a huge loss, I think we’ll do well to get a point.
I’ve been disappointed with him this season so far, he did ok the first two games as LWB, but more defensively. He’s not been attack minded enough for me, when he runs at defenders he can be dangerous, but too often he doesn’t take the defender on, but plays the ball back.
1-0 to the mighty reds!! Nice thing to see this flash up when taking my phone off flight mode! Nice to see RPs mate with the assist!
R&W, get a life. McCrorie needs to chill otherwise he's off. Understandable with what we have available but not pretty to watch. Good cross but the credit goes to Atkinson and his desire to score. Hope Atkinson lasts.
I think McCrorie clipped him accidentally. Have to happy with a point, not sure Armstrong will ever score.
Good fighting from the City with a make shift team and lineup. Thought Vyner had a very good game under the circumstances. Good goal by us, stupid penalty to give away. Satisfied with a point...Ref was shocking. (None of the city players had a bad game imo) Thought Borges did really well tonight
Just how bad is Mayulu in training that he can’t get on the pitch ahead of Sincs…… Once again, we don’t see 2 up top from the manager who ‘favours that formation’, even playing a defender in midfield, rather than take that option. Our board do talk some $hite…
Agree Borges gives us a better balance on the left, thought he had a decent game, I missed Atkinson going off, was he injured ?, Vyner isn’t a midfielder, ok as a stop gap, but I hope he doesn’t have to play there for any length of time. I thought Yu looked “busy” when he came on too, even Sincs wasn’t as bad as normal. A good shift put in by all the players. All things considered a good point.
I think I posted "pre" season there was a possibility of a lot of drawn games in store! ... NOT JUST FOR US! Tonight 6 of the 8 were draws!
We're quite strong at the back with a good keeper. Currently really light in midfield with Knight, Bird and Williams injured which won't get easier for weeks. Up front we're suffering from the lunacy of signing Armstrong and Maylu and not signing another striker in the last window much to Struber's extreme annoyance.
