I think the problem is the tone people take. They insult the opinion, which is not the same as accepting one. That's what he's referring to I think. I don't think anyone but me has said to him that he's entitled to his opinion.
You did say that my friend. You’re quite right. Others don’t seem to allow the opinions of others. It’s weird? It’s like they get threatening vibes or something.
By the way if you watch their 2nd goal. Watch Nick pope. My word he’s a liability. He was an absolute dick.
Just to clarify here coz I’m lost at how stupid this seems. Is it your opinion that the rules should change to mean it’s a pen? (Pope incident) or is it your opinion that it was a pen? I really hope for your sake after 5 pages of this that it’s the former or you need to go read the rules of the game again. That would outlaw just about every sort of 50/50 and 100% rule out slide tackles and shoulder barges making it a no contact sport.
It was 'obvious' in that the referee had not seen that touch but if he had he would obviously have made a different decision as the Laws say in that case its not a penalty. Therefore, it was a clear and obvious error that he had made the wrong decision.
This was what I was repeatedly saying, but he just kept going "wah wah it's my opinion, deal with it". And then claimed to be "brutalised" for having an opinion. The rules clearly explain why it wasn't a penalty, so having an "opinion" to the contrary is like having an opinion that we should use a banana instead of a football and saying I'm entitled to that opinion.
The rules don't matter because he's basically saying he thinks it's a penalty and doenst agree with the rule. If people on here just accepted his opinion he wouldn't have went on and on would he? The rules don't mean they're right and tbf many of the rules are a load of ****e. I don't agree with GG, but it's his opinion and he's entitled to it. Plain and simple.
Google images of people sliding - this is the NATURAL position. If people can actually be sensible about contact and handballs (media included) - perhaps one day we could actually get some decent rules that make sense. It doesn't help that everyone bullshits when the decision benefits/hinders them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slide_(baseball)#/media/File:Ronald_Acuna_(50337465807)_(cropped).jpg I say allow more contact in challenges (particularly upper body contact) - no ball too hand decisions should be given. Also no penalties for challenges that wouldn't be a CLEAR foul outside the box.
That’s always a problem with the natural position rule. It’s not a definite and will always be purely an opinion which then causes disputes and accusations of inconsistency or bias. The alternative is players lunging in John Terry style like a windmill deliberately using their arms as an obstruction and gaining an unfair advantage. People complained long and hard about that too. There really isn’t a perfect solution and players will always learn how to get an advantage from something. I don’t blame John Terry for what he used to do by the way. It was within the rules at the time and it was his job to protect his goal and he certainly wasn’t alone in doing it. Personally I prefer the rule as it is now. Even ball to hand can be very subjective and depends on opinion and effectively defending with your hand holding it out as a barrier is unfair too. I agree the game has gone a bit soft regarding contact although again it’s always subject to opinion. Regarding the penalty area I think we often see things let go in the area that would be punished outside the area far more than the other way round which is human nature. As a ref you are bound to feel like you have to be more certain when awarding a foul if it means giving a penalty which mostly results in a goal. Refs won’t always get it right it’s a very difficult job and whilst I hope corruption isn’t actually involved incompetency certainly is and it’s almost impossible to stop refs (humans) having personal bias in a game even if they try not to show it. VAR though should help with this but is still badly and inconsistently used and those using it also subject to bias and incompetence not to mention the constant changes in the way they decide to use it. It’s probably never going to be perfect. Maybe the Japanese can invent robot refs and AI VAR to solve it but they would still be accused of corruption or bias in the programming of them lol
The easy fix is if it hits a hand regardless of intent or position it’s a free kick or penalty. Simple. If you’re good enough to twat a ball at someone’s hand from point blank range then happy days.
That's a terrible idea. I teach Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and one of the first things you learn is how to break fall. The arms come up and then down as you go through the air. The idea that arms by ones side being 'natural' is insaine. We arn't penguins and don't move like that.
No but if a ball hits your hand in the box it’s a penalty. Doesn’t matter if it’s a penguin with arms rather than wings or not
I do agree with this tbh, arms provide leverage when going in for a sliding tackle, no one is going to pin their arms to their sides when going into the tackle, the tackle would not happen properly.
