Very poor second 45 minutes. Taking off Galbraith was a huge mistake in my opinion - particularly replacing him with Yalcouye who is a different type of midfielder. Also, why bring on Eom ahead of Benson? As I said last week, it could take Sheehan a few weeks to work out his best formation, combinations etc…. But in a Division like the Championship, he won’t have much time to get it right - hopefully, come next Saturday he will have sorted it
Well he certainly deserves a fair crack to sort things out, still early days really. I missed the game as I was having fun on the M25 but was following updates. It's criminal that a decision (Vip's goal) can rob any team of vital points at this level but it's only a mickey mouse Sunday league after all.... oh wait, I forgot about the millions of pounds involved
If they can’t / won’t use VAR, why can’t the 4th Official have a monitor pitchside and intervene when required?
So the lino was positive it was offside? If so are they up to the job? Don't guess! Not sure, then give the benefit to the attacking side. Or ideally, like Taff says, a 4th official review. Edit: they'd probably go to the 4th official every time to not take any responsibility themself... but then if it's only for offside it's no big deal as the game's stopped anyway.
A poor officials decision or was it that cost us a chance of a point or did it? We will never know. What was criminal was to allow Birmingham to press us in to our penalty area for the last 20 minutes or so when the winning goal was conceded. Poor game management by our manger and players? Probably. the last minute defeat certainly took the wind out of our supporters sails who had been singing practically throughout..
You're right, of course. I just watched the extended highlights and the game should have been over by half time. Easily could have had three goals another day. Disappointingly, as you say, all Birmingham second half. Whether that's a bit of a hangover from Tuesday or no leadership I don't know. This is so frustrating... consecutive Saturdays where we should have taken both games by the scruff and won both but end up with one point. Hopefully they'll learn from this.
Told today that in the Birmingham match when Sheehan turned to Benson about coming on, Benson shrugged his shoulders and ‘suggested’ that he didn’t want to. Apparently, Sheehan was so ‘pissed’ about it that the club almost sent him back to Burnley there and then. (Sheehan had been really impressed with him against Burnley) They’ve since learnt that he had a similar attitude at Burnley - seems he only plays when he’s in the mood ……
