Should have, would have, could have don't count, though do they. Whether or not you are regarded as the "best" team in the competition, you have to go out and perform or you end up regretting it as England did in that final.
That said, I agree with OLM that Southgate was overall very good for England. Not sure we can take reaching the latter stages of tournaments for granted much longer - who's stepping into Kane's shoes when he retires from International football?

Well McBurnie has already played for Scotland so that rules him out :emoticon-0105-wink:

I think part of England's problem is they keep getting piss easy qualifying groups and it comes as a shock when we have to play good teams.

Agreed - there used to be an element of jeopardy in qualifying groups -now they are designed to ensure all major nations qualify

Its not the groups design as such

Its that the tournaments have way more teams now

Euro 2008 for example
16 teams qualified

Euro 2024
24 teams

World cup 2018
32 teams

World cup 2026
48 teams

Now you can qualify automatically finishing second

Wednesday not paying their players on time for 5th time in seven months and could now face further sanctions/embargoes.

Sheff Weds players have been told they will be paid late again this month.

Just had a look on Owlstalk. It is the staff not getting paid. They were originally told they would be paid late and then told they will only be getting £1,000 of it. As some of their fans say the shortfall could affect their credit ratings if not enough money to pay bills or direct debits. What a **** show! Fans saying even a boycott is pointless as so many bought season tickets, you need to pay by March to get a full discount, that even with no Wednesday fans in the ground it would show as around 20,000 with season tickets and away fans.

They are not increasing European quota of World Cup in same ratio of other confederation though, FIFA is trying to farm votes from Africa and other continents.

Bit of useless information, but Ruben Amorim is 19th in a list of managers never to have won back to back games, with 33, technically he’s going to be joint 17th this week, because win or not, it’s not back to back with last week.
Only real reason I’m mentioning this, is because No 1, belongs to the worst manager I’ve ever seen at Hull City!
