Their first goal from the corner was supposed to be a goal kick. I blamed the linesman for that. However, that does not explain our very poor performance.

I think people are deliberately misreading the luck comments. Their goals weren't lucky in and of themselves. They were good goals. They came about through lucky circumstances. You simply can't deny that. You say eg the second goal wasn't lucky, it came from bad defending, I agree. It was the timing of the goal, as you go on to mention that was the luck. It happens, we know because we've been the beneficiaries of it too.

My overall take is that the better team on the day won the match. They won with 2 goals that came from lucky circumstances. Both sentences can be true at the same time.

    Nobody deliberately misreads

If someone says they were lucky and it doesn't match up.with what was seen they say so.

You have clarified they just got two lucky goals.

I still dont agree with that, they'd have done things differently thsts all.

I wouldn't accept a rival telling us we just got lucky if we scored one either.

Same.as.burneky saying we got lucky after we camped on their 18 yard line all gsme trying while they didn't.

Or arsenal where szobo scores a 1 in 109 free.

    Everything could be called luck.

Ino tjry took their goal and sat on it. If they didn't get it thst way they'd have got it another way.

If anything they could say we got lucky we were not 5 down at ht.

I'd not accept that either l, as alisson is alisson

In general, people deliberately misread all the time as in they know very well what was meant but choose to use a different interpretation. On here it happens every now and again. My initial comment which some have jumped on, never said lucky. That's where it's been deliberately misread to turn my comment about "Palace benefitted from luck today " into the comment saying they were lucky to win.

A lucky win most often means not reflective of effort. A win involving 2 goals that came from "strokes of luck" - which was my next comment - is very different to describing it as a lucky win.

I think the problem is luck can be used so subjectively in football that people can use it in very different ways.

Think you or maybe someone mentioned 2nd goal had some luck because kerkez cleared it poorly - is that luck? Or is that just football?

Can’t argue the first one was lucky to be given a corner, but then then you defend how many corners a season and don’t concede - so still has the chance to clear it.

I think when it comes to football, you’d have to say luck is maybe something that you could see happen 50 times and not result in a goal but 1 time it does. Like a huge deflection off someone going wrong way, a backpass to keeper bouncing over his foot etc. something that isn’t in the game plan but had a bit impact.

Either way I don’t think it’s wrong to say they had some luck, but in same way Liverpool have had their slice of luck with Burnley player sticking his arm up and being 1/2 a yard inside own box for a pen.

I agree with all of that. (It wasn't me who said Kerkez made a mistake). <ok>

And it doesn't explain Gravy closing his eyes and heading the ball with his ear rather than his forehead. :emoticon-0108-speec
