That’s in understatement, half of the best players weren’t even there

Brilliant finish to the US Open, but the media is focussed on Rory McIlroy finishing only 19th, which would be quite respectable for any other player, but with Rory there has to be an inquest. Same with Man Citeh and celtic losing their cup finals, with the focus on the loser.

Well done the European team :emoticon-0165-muscl <applause>

Making Trump look like a loser. Something he hates more than anything else <laugh>
No sympathy for US fans, they crossed the line a long time ago. No concept of sportsmanship, or how to take fair defeat on the chin.
    Europe going to Hell?
No. Going to win the Ryder Cup...again :emoticon-0172-mooni

Now I hear that US fans have been hurling abuse at European players even as they are taking their shots.
    Shameful.
    And self-defeating.
Supposedly the American fans are now beginning to turn on their own players.

Those so-called golf fans should take a long look at themselves.
This new attitude in America - that there is nothing more shameful than losing - is typical of everything that is going wrong in the USA.
Unfortunately their President has led them to this.
The man who described US servicemen and women who are captured by enemy forces while serving their Country as losers.

Sorry - I know this post is getting political. I won't pursue it further.
But it is a sad example of political attitudes polluting the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship which should be universally respected.

I can't stand unsporting behaviour around sports, even though I acknowledge we have a Century or more of history of robust banter between tribes of football fans.
Sledging in Cricket for example, and examples of cheating in recent years, are very bad for that game in my view.
There is a difference I think between fervent, strident support for your sporting tribe, and self-defeating abuse of your sporting opponents.

Perhaps a thumping Ryder Cup victory for Europe under these conditions in America will give some people pause for thought.
And see less of that kind of behaviour in future years.

We haven't beaten them yet. I bet the yob element aren't golf fans. More like Maga fans.

If the USA Golfers win the Ryder Cup from their current position it will be maybe the greatest comeback of all time.
And I for one will congratulate them in the spirit of sportsmanship.

Great fight-back (in the right sporting fashion) from the USA team. Europe just about got away with it <applause>

As soon as Shane Lowry holed his winning putt the Yanks made a dash for the exit. The European fans should have sang We can see you sneaking out. Or Cherio cherio cherio.

The blow was softened a bit because Lowry's an Irishman.
Themselves aside, many Americans seem to cherish the Irish above most others.
And at least the tournament passed off without anyone trying to shoot it or blow it up <peacedove> <hug>

Lowry and McIlroy got more dog's abuse from the gallery than anyone. Rory gave some back which made it even worse. They were even shouting on his swing, unheard of before.

    Agreed, very poor behaviour.
I don't like the way it is underplayed on channels like SSN either. "all part of the modern game" etc.
I doubt the European fans will behave like that in the next tournament. Shame on them if they do.

It needs to be stamped ahrt. Anyone who shouts at a player while he's taking his shot should be thrown out. They would be if it happened at Wimbledon, or at a snooker tournament.
