Good thing that it didn't impact the final score, but I'm amazed that Brighton didn't get a penalty for that high boot by Gusto.

Total incompetence as usual from Hooper, and just as bad from VAR.

Agreed. VAR should never be used for something like that. On live viewing, I imagine almost every football fan said penalty.

How on earth the VAR decides to get involved with that one, but not get involved with the Brighton one yesterday.

Arteta has every right to go ballistic. If the slight touch from Pope was enough to overturn the penalty, then the slight push from Woltermade should have ruled out that.

(My view is that neither contact was sufficient for an overturn.)

Woltemade is the sort of striker we have needed since Pelle left

Watched him in most of Germany’s game at the U21 Euros and he was superb. He has since been promoted to the senior side. Would love to see someone like that play for us.

I’d hope a £70m striker would improve us a bit

The style of striker rather than necessarily him specifically I meant

Watching Newcastle United vs Arsenal and if it carries on like this Ramsdale is just going to be playing a few cup games. Money talks I suppose....

You would have thought that he would have demanded a certain amount of playing time.

All depends what his options were, didn’t seem like there was much interest in him. Probably backed himself to compete for the number one spot at a PL side than be playing in the Champ. Especially under former manager who didn’t seem to rate Pope that highly

I imagine he is not very happy. Need to get back up and reclaim him.

I do wonder what the general perception of him is. Nobody I know rates him at all and whenever he’s mentioned bring up his relegation record. The Arsenal fans are a bit kinder on him but say Raya is a big upgrade.

Maybe the sorts of teams he could’ve joined were relegation favourites and he didn’t want to do that again. We’ll see what happens in the summer, if he barely plays this year and we don’t go up it could be interesting.

Yes he really needs to get a #1 shirt at a mid table Prem team if he’s going to get his career going again. Be like Pickford at Everton.

West Ham or Wolves if they stay up, Villa maybe if Martinez goes. But going to be tough for him to persuade any of them to take him.

I don’t remember what our options are…. Could we recall him? I’d put him straight in for us

If he moved to be in contention for a world cup place, then this looks to be the wrong move .

Talking about wrong moves, I can't see that JWP prospects look too great.

Got a run of games under Potter but didn't Nuno freeze him out at Forest? Can't see him getting much game time now for West Ham
