Kelman cost a lot of money to do that. We have to hope He'll come good. Can't rely on 34-year-old Godden to come back from injury and save us.
In fairness to Kelman, he was feeding off scraps. It was painful to watch. Godden is sorely missed, I agree.
I'll stick with what I have said all along, we'll end up bottom six but who knows with relegation. Potentially our possible lack of goals will go against us, on the basis that our defence could possibly leak goals. At the moment we are clinging on to the fact we have a good defence. I am more of the view that we'll start conceding goals before we start getting two every game.
Agree about Kelman feeding if scraps. I thought it looked as if his and TC's role was to be a nuisance when the ball was played long and for us to pick up more of the second balls. Which to me, I thought Carey and Doc did fairly well yesterday. I would also say, we've not played any of the other teams expected to be down at the bottom end of the table yet. Bristol City and Leicester are 3rd and 4th, albeit very early season, but expected to be up there, and we more than held our own against both. I agree we'll probably be closer to the bottom than the top, but staying in the Championship is the main goal for me.
I couldn't believe how poor Apter was. Everything he tried went wrong, even simple passes. It was a night and day contrast from his performance against Watford. It's time to try something different.
As has been mentioned on another thread by the ever well informed @The Penguin with the next three games away and five of the next seven away, could this spell of games define our season? I would suggest a very minimum of four points needs to come from the away games, and hope that the Wednesday home game gives us three points. The Wednesday game will be the best chance of ANY game this season of getting maximum points.
Today's goal shot us up seven places but at this stage of the season things are so tight a couple of wins/defeats changes things dramatically. This was a hard watch BUT we got points against a team around us, that is always a key to success. I still think we'll be bottom six come the end of the season.
My only cautionary note would be this; Season 2019-20. We were relegated. This is a good moment, but a fortnight ago we were 18th. There's a long old way to go.
