An irony here. Last week we played the botom of the league at home and lost. This week we play the team that took their place away. I said this last time, what could possibly go wrong.....................again. COYG
We've played Burton 16 times....won four (all at home)...Drawn six...lost...six. Never beaten them away ?
It will be interesting to see who Cleverley will pick to be the Keeper today......Hazard played quite well during his first game back since his injury. A couple of dodgy moments maybe.....the first goal could be put down to Hazard not dealing with it as expected. Ashby-Hammond started his Argyle life poorly on pre-season in Austria.....seemingly knocking the ball into the net when it was easier to save it.....but he has match by match improved his performance.....and did a great job of saving that penalty recently.....so a decision for Cleverley to make there.
Yes: look at how Peterborough scored the only goal. You cannot simply push the ball back towards the penalty spot like that.
Hazard...Ross...Wiredu...Tolaj...Mumba...Mitchell...Oseni...Boateng...McCabe...Ibrahim...Sorinola. Subs Ashby-Hammond...Paterson...Benarous...Galloway...Roberts...Pepple...Finn. So Hazard gets preference and captaincy as well......becoming our seventh captain this season....so it says.
Not always that simple....stopping it going in is the first priority.....directing it to safety is not always a choice.
There isn’t a choice if you aren’t good enough. I know that’s harsh and we’ve been spoilt by having Michael Cooper but that cost us a point. I’m not a betting man but I’d have put a few quid on Michael Cooper not letting that one. Anyway, I’m in a foul mood (pardon pun) as I’m watching Birmingham City getting a tonking from Coventry City. Jay Stansfield got booked a while back and I’ve been hoping the little toe-rag would get sent off. Unfortunately, he’s just been subbed off. Sensible will no doubt remember what a prat he made of himself at Home Park.
We used to go shopping in Burton when we lived in Derbyshire - and oft-times stop for refreshment at an old riverside mill which had been turned into a pub….. Weird place…. You’d be driving along and all of a sudden, a little train would pull out of a side turning carrying barrels of beer. The Marmite factory smells a bit too…..
Erm..... yes Stansfield was a bit naughty at Home Park with his celebration but I actually can't blame him given the crap he got from the Green Army or at least some of them who thought a chant about his dead father was ok to do.
............................................................Hazard ...............................Ross,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.,,Mitchell....................Wiredu ........Sorinola..................Boateng......................McCabe....................Mumba ................................Ibrahim..........................................Oseni ...........................................................Tolaz
0-4.....F/T.....(90 + 7 mins) Tolaj.....(31 & 55 mins) Oseni.....(45 mins) Pepple.....(81 mins) Ibrahim yellow carded.....misses next match. Good result and helping goal difference. Clean sheet for Hazard.
Cleverley says he felt opposition sides were stifling our two No 10s so he went with two strikers. Pleased with the results: Tolaj, Oswni and Pepple all got onto the scoresheet. He’s not wed to any particular formation and will change it as needed. However, he’s more pleased with the “nil” than the “four “. We’ve had less difficulty scoring than we have keeping them out. Travelling Argyie fans made up one third of the attendance and he thanks the fans for sticking with the team after a poor start to the season.
As said although I honsestly didn't think by that score line. It was a fine afternoon watching my computer screen with one eye and the roses on the tele with the other one. Now enjoying a glass of Savignon and about to watch the goals.
