Swansea v Millwall Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Swansea.com Stadium Date - 27 September 2025 Kick off - 12:30pm Following their desperately unlucky 0-1 defeat away to Birmingham, next up for Alan Sheehan’s Swansea squad is a difficult looking home match against Millwall. Last Saturday, substitute Lyndon Dykes struck in the fourth minute of added time to give Birmingham City a dramatic win over the Swans. A breathless first half produced a hatful of chances at both ends, including a volley from Swansea striker Zan Vipotnik which found the net, but was disallowed – incorrectly – for offside. Arguably, this was the turning point / crucial moment in the entire game. Substitute Kyogo Furuhashi had a golden opportunity to put Birmingham in front after the break but saw his scuffed shot saved by Lawrence Vigouroux, who also repelled Demarai Gray. Blues cranked up the pressure in the closing stages and got their reward when Patrick Roberts' pinpoint cross was headed in by fellow substitute Dykes to send the St Andrew's crowd wild and make it 28 home league games without defeat. Victory moves Birmingham up to eighth in the early season Championship table, while the Swans’ first loss since the opening weekend of the season sends them down to eleventh. Later that same afternoon, Camiel Neghli's deft free-kick saw off Watford to secure Millwall's first home Championship win of the season at The Den. The Algeria Under-23 international lifted the ball over the wall and beyond Hornets keeper Egil Selvik, who later went off injured at half-time, to put the hosts in control. Millwall had a strong penalty shout for a foul on Macaulay Langstaff turned down before Lions keeper Steven Benda pulled off a sensational save to prevent Watford's Luca Kjerrumgaard equalising from point-blank range in the 90th minute. Alex Neil's side move into the top half of the table, up to 10th, while Watford sit 21st after a run of four Championship games without a win. The Swans have played Millwall on 60 occasions since the first match 104 years ago, with the overall results record pretty even: 24 - 23 in favour of the Swans, with 13 drawn matches. In last season’s corresponding fixture, Millwall scored a late winner to emerge 1-0 victors (the Swans conceding a late goal, now where have I heard that before ….. ) Turning to Saturday, hopefully Alan Sheehan has had an opportunity on the training fields this week to get a better understanding of his new players and is closer to knowing his best team and best formations etc Hopefully, the players have learned the lessons of the last two Championship matches where 2 late goals have cost us 3pts in total. I’m going for a hard fought 2-1 home win - despite ex-Swan Steve Benda having a blinder in goal for Millwall.
Thanks Taff great pre match. So.....we still got a few probs at the back which will,I'm certain,be sorted as we go on. Having said that........3-2 Swans.
Millwall under Alex Neil are not a side who tend to make life easy for their opponents, as their record this season proves. They are yet to lose an away league game in 2025-26, having won at Norwich City and Sheffield United and drawn at Charlton Athletic. The Lions also triumphed at Newport County in the Carabao Cup, with their solitary reverse on the road coming in the third round of that competition at Premier League Crystal Palace – and even then they were only beaten on penalties.
We simply must show up and perform. We need league momentum. We must bounce back from two disappointing league games and show we mean business this season. Reinforce my pre-season optimism with a win! I'll go 3 - 1 as well.
I just have to keep my fingers crossed for this one as I’ll be on a job during the match - I’ll be able to keep an eye on the BBC site though for updates. I don’t think we’ll lose this one but not sure it’ll be a win either. If we can keep going forward for the whole match instead of allowing them onto us for the last 20 mins then wonders could happen.
Malick Yalcouye comes back into the Swansea City starting line-up as Alan Sheehan makes one change for this afternoon’s clash with Millwall. Yalcouye comes in at the expense of Goncalo Franco, who drops to the bench. The Swans are otherwise unchanged from the defeat at Birmingham City. Lawrence Vigouroux is in goal, with Josh Key, captain Ben Cabango, Cameron Burgess and Josh Tymon making up the back four. Yalcouye slots into midfield alongside Marko Stamenic and Ethan Galbraith. Ronald and Zeidane Inoussa occupy the wing slots, with Žan Vipotnik leading the Swansea attack. Swansea City: Lawrence Vigouroux; Josh Key, Ben Cabango (captain), Cameron Burgess, Josh Tymon; Marko Stamenic, Malick Yalcouye, Ethan Galbraith; Ronald, Zeidane Inouss; Žan Vipotnik. Substitutes: Andy Fisher, Jay Fulton, Jisung Eom, Ishe Samuels-Smith, Goncalo Franco, Liam Cullen, Manuel Benson, Kaelan Casey, Adam Idah. Great start but can we see the game out from in front with control rather than trying to hang on? This is where we need to push on to be challenging the play-offs I feel. We're playing well enough so far to do so. We're creating chances.
