I'm not sure to be honest but he's reportedly turned down two offers of £500,000 from the NRL. Whether that's two offers combined i'm not sure. Rovers offer won't be as much as that i'dve thought but it would still be a large amount.
I can see the draw of the NRL. The weekly standard of rugby is superior to Super League in my opinion. The Aussie climate and lifestyle linked into a very attractive salary is bound to turn a players head. Having said that plenty have taken the plunge to get homesick and return early.
Agree about NRL and Super League. Maybe Mikey didn't think he was ready for Aussie yet and turned it down. Good on him for not taking it up, like you say, there's a lot of plus's for going.
I believe he has a young kid and he’s no longer with the mother, so if he went to Aus he’d almost certainly have to leave his kid behind. I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me that would be the only reason I’d need to turn down the money and stay at Rovers. Like you said Rover, he’ll still be getting a generous salary here regardless!
