Brilliant finish to the US Open, but the media is focussed on Rory McIlroy finishing only 19th, which would be quite respectable for any other player, but with Rory there has to be an inquest. Same with Man Citeh and celtic losing their cup finals, with the focus on the loser.
Joshua v Fury is suddenly being touted again - now both of them are washed up Be prepared to be parted with serious just to watch it on TV
The Ryder Cup used to be the best sporting event on terrestrial telly. Ah well, there's always 5live.
Well done the European team Making Trump look like a loser. Something he hates more than anything else No sympathy for US fans, they crossed the line a long time ago. No concept of sportsmanship, or how to take fair defeat on the chin. Europe going to Hell? No. Going to win the Ryder Cup...again
Now I hear that US fans have been hurling abuse at European players even as they are taking their shots. Shameful. And self-defeating. Supposedly the American fans are now beginning to turn on their own players. Those so-called golf fans should take a long look at themselves. This new attitude in America - that there is nothing more shameful than losing - is typical of everything that is going wrong in the USA. Unfortunately their President has led them to this. The man who described US servicemen and women who are captured by enemy forces while serving their Country as losers. Sorry - I know this post is getting political. I won't pursue it further. But it is a sad example of political attitudes polluting the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship which should be universally respected. I can't stand unsporting behaviour around sports, even though I acknowledge we have a Century or more of history of robust banter between tribes of football fans. Sledging in Cricket for example, and examples of cheating in recent years, are very bad for that game in my view. There is a difference I think between fervent, strident support for your sporting tribe, and self-defeating abuse of your sporting opponents. Perhaps a thumping Ryder Cup victory for Europe under these conditions in America will give some people pause for thought. And see less of that kind of behaviour in future years.
