Dunno when the next date is gonna be. We're away from just after Xmas for a month. The surgeon is due to phone to tell me why it's been cancelled - I won't hold my breath!

    It's a nightmare like.

Currently in limbo with an op myself. I had a pre-op assessment in June and was sent an op date for July which I couldn't attend as I was away on holiday. I was sent another op date for earlier in September but that was cancelled at short notice. I don't know why.

I've had a letter today saying I need to do the pre-op assessment again in October but no date for the op as yet.

I felt really down on Sunday morning, but then forced myself to go to the museum. Everyone was really nice to me and I enjoyed chatting. Then I was tearful on Sunday night because everyone was so nice. What on earth is that all about?!

Well my thought is, if you treat people decent, you'll get that back. So you must have done something right! I've met people on here and they've been spot on, just like meeting lads in the pub

Quite an important thread this, glad it's here for folk that need it. There's alot goes on inside a person head (the photo is symbolism..... of my head...) and its good to talk about stuff in a safe place. Great work everyone.

As 'essayyeffcee' said "if you treat people decently, you'll get that back" and you're obviously a nice person (most in our little village on here are) . . . . it's simple really <hug>

We're just a ragtag collection of locals and exiles who seem to bump into each other at the Museum. People dip in and dip out, sometimes just having a bit crack until their 'proper mates' turn up then they're gone. Those who've arrived from Devon, Hastings, Sheffield, Bracknell, Scotland, etc, know they can always just show up and have a pint with someone they know, in whichever way.

People are only nice to you because you're just like them, even though we're all different. I left the ground, after the game, and went straight to Mansfield for the funeral of another exile I've travelled with for 50 years. Supporting the club is great but, just as important, we all support each other ...

... I cried on Monday, especially when we all sang Wise Men Say, but some of them were tears of joy.

A dozen of the mourners were lads I travelled with year after year, we share a bond just as you do Becs.

I wasn’t at Fans Museum on Sunday but it sounds like you had a lot of good support there from cracking people.

Given what you have had to deal with OTR that support will hopefully give you some confidence in you.

I don’t know you, just from here and OTR but your good community work and being a nice lass is clear from everything posted here and previously OTR

Be kinder to yourself becs. As others have said, you have been met with kindness because of who and what you are.

Wishing you peace of mind and rest.

@Smug in Boots We all have our own family, then we have this bizarre extended family called Sunderland A.F.C. Its a same about RTG as they were very supportive during my bowel cancer - I got to go and see foggy before he sadly died - the underlying thing being we are all Sunderland at the ned of the day. I met @Smug in Boots and @malagamackem at Wembley - I wouldn't mind saying hello at the next Fans Museum get together (I was in the posh seats for Villa!).

    Thank you xx

That means a lot to me at the moment. I've been struggling with what happened and the loss of the support network I had over there.

I talked to foggy by PM but never ever got to meet him in person. We were going to go for a dog walk round Chester park when he felt better but he never felt well enough to go. He was a good man.

Be nice to put a face to a name if you can make it xx

    That would be great

I took him some posh tea as he liked his tea. Totally out of the blue I had never met him before. He was really nice
