Politics and religion are two different things and should be kept separate IMO. Though as an atheist I would say that.

Starmer is the worst Mp at reading the room ever. I see Ian T's favourite Richard Burgeon has announced he is not supporting. So has Clive Lewis! So has Nadi Whittome and interestingly Graham Stringer........one of the MPs that may provide the vacancy in Manchester for Burnham!

Next round of polling will be interesting to say the least. Somehow this weeks had seen a very slight blip upwards for Labour!

They are framing this mandatory digital I'd as a way to combat illegal immigration. I personally think they are using illegal immigration as a tool in the hope of the population being more excepting of mandatory digital Id

Depressing but its a very volatile amount.

FPTP is completely broken now, it was never built for the current environment.

Labour shouldnt have a majority on the vote they recieved.

Reform should be nowhere near that close with 27%.

All it takes is for the Tories, Labour or both to regain 3-4% in 3.5 years and it completely alters the picture.

Farce system that will one day deliver a government that 3/4 people detest from the outset, not a stable way of running the country.

Arrest me for knowing my rights? Good luck with that! The whole interaction would of course been recorded on my phone for when I sue the local plod in court for false arrest and battery when they put hands on me for there fabricated reason for arrest.

Recorded or not I used to walk home with someone who was of your opinion. maybe more, maybe less determined to voice his rights and every time it got to the point of 'just tell him your name and address so we can go home for god's sake."

They basically say to you "we can get this done here or at the station....your choice" Not a lot has changed. the tweet police and silent prayer police basically say the same. you're not arrested, you are accompanying them to the station to give your statement....what Iif I refuse to accompany you?.... then you'll be arrested, sir!

ID cards will not change this a jot, but equally they are not at all needed either for the reasons given.

    No they can't.

"Give us you details or you'll be arrested" is only if
    A) They suspect you of an offence and
    B) They were originally planning to deal with it without arresting you

Stop and account and stop search do not require a person to provide their details.

I don't know why people just make stuff up

The government already have people's identity likely in multiple ways. I'm not sure what extra value these ID cards actually present, nor why the wild outrage outpouring that occurs every time this issue is raised. As others have rightly said, I have no idea how it will stop illegal immigration. At work we have to do RTW checks on all employees as it is.

These government organisations know who you are and hold thorough records of your life digitally:

    - Passports
    - NHS
    - Driving Licence
    - NI number/ tax
    - Housing Register

Let alone private identification in mortgages, credit scores, utilities etc etc etc. The major credit checking organisations know exactly who all of you are for certain. If you're on social media, particularly Facebook, even more so...

The time for outrage on privacy has long gone. This petition is nothing more than closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

They could employ the people coming in on small boats on a very low wage to administrate the new ID cards.

Surely it would save billions to centralise the data management of the multiple government agencies that collect and store information.

The future will be in a "resident" biometric portal. Whilst hacking has been a major feature of the internet in early adoption but that will change. We are still in the infancy of hyper connectivity.

Not making it up. Used to happen every week walking home from town with a mate. Wasn't stop and search. IT was where have you been, what are you up to, OK names and addresses please. I gave mine all clear. mate "stands up for his rights" at which point out comes the "we can take this to the sation blah de blah. just give them your name and address so we can continue going home.

And I am in Lincoln. This was in Lincoln. lots and lots of times! Maybe 30+ times. Quite often (for some reason) walking up Lindum Hill after pool night! Coppers testing their powers around the corner from the station (as was.)

What offence did they suspect us of? Walking too slow up the hill? Too fast? drinking as much as everybody else in the vicinity of Ritzys? Have a word with yourself before being so confident in saying someone "makes stuff up"
