One of the immediate concerns I have about digital ID cards is about data security. We’ve just seen Jaguar, M&S lose millions because of hackers and we’ve got low life ****s threatening to post pics of toddlers and their home addresses etc because of lax cyber security.

I think govt need to get this whole issue under control before they even think about mandating everybody to sign up with digital ID

Seriously though why does Norway have an all in one ID system, is that so it can control it's borders and it's people, sounds the way @Welshie has explained it as thinly veiled facism. We can root out those who do not belong.

I think the greater issue her for future freedoms and, more so nationstates making their own decisions, is the growth of AI and the fact that only two nations on the ****ing planet are actively working on this stuff, the US and China. They have a complete monopoly over one of the most powerful modern day inventions.

Whilst AI doesn't do great at everything, it's ability to crunch data, self improve and rapidly grow is concerning, we have no answer to it. What pisses me the most off about the UK is that we sell EVERYTHING, if we did develop a growing AI company in only 5 years if would be another American owned one. We haven't got an answer to it.

My tinpot theory, mark my words: UK the 51st state.
